Lokal Food & Bar — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

We went to Lokal for a summery lunch because we had heard a good word about the pizzas. Lokal has a varying lunch menu with a few lunch options every day. I chose the halloumi and avocado salad, a salad buffet and dessert pancake+coffee were included for 12,70 euros.

The salad buffet didn't look appetizing at all, so I took some pita-style bread with tsatsiki that look and also tasted nice.

The salad was nice-looking, but the taste wasn't much up to any standards: all vegetables tasted like they were from yesterday or even older, and the avocado both looked and tasted bad to be frank. The halloumi was ok per se, but the whole salad was covered with a thick layer of curry sauce and parmesan cheese which neither made any sense nor tasted good. I had some dessert pancake and coffee to wash away the salad's terrible taste and it somewhat worked although the coffee wasn't very good and the pancake was cold.

Cheese burgeria en ainakaan voi kokemukseni perusteella suositella, eikä tämä ensimmäinen käynti ravintolassa herättänyt kiinnostusta palata uudelleen. Maksoin 1.5€ extraa, jotta sain burgerin ohelle tavallisten ranujen sijaan bataattiranskalaiset. Suurin osa niistä oli mustiksi ja koviksi palaneita, siis syömäkelvottomia. Itse hampurilainen maistui nihkeältä pakastesämpylältä, joka oli täytetty halvoilla raaka-aineilla. Burgerissa ei maistunut mikään muu, kuin teollinen paprikamajoneesi. Samaa majoneesia tarjottiin myös pienessä muovirasiassa dippinä, mikä ei makunsa lisäksi esteettisestikään houkutellut maistamaan. Palvelu ravintolassa oli tavanomaisen ystävällistä, joten siitä ainoat plussat. Tarjoilija ei kuitenkaan melkein tyhjässä ravintolassa ennättänyt missään vaiheessa tulla kysymään miten ruoka maistuu. Todennäköisesti annoksen laatu ei olisi juurikaan parantunut, vaikka se olisi lähetetty keittiöön takaisin ja olisin saanut uuden tilalle. Ravintola ei ole hinnoiltaan kalleimmasta päästä, siitä huolimatta hinta ja laatu eivät...

Very friendly, welcoming staff. The whole place - indoors, terrace, and patio area - is comfortable and cosy.

We didn't try the food on this visit but what we saw being served up was absolutely mouthwatering. We WILL be going back for lunch next Saturday!
