Medicin Man — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

I have been twice to the Medicin Man for lunch and it doesn't disappoint. For around €16,- per person its not the cheapest place to go, but the options are good. Lots of meat, vegetables, carbs like rice and potatoes, salads and some bread. There is coffee, tea and some sweets too. The buffet style lunch keeps you eating and doesn't disappoint. You have to head down to the basement for this. Later in the afternoon the bar opens, and you can enjoy some beers on the terrace or indoors.

EDIT: now I have been here for dinner too. The menu is not very extensive, but the options they have are generous and delicious! The atmosphere is good in the basement of the restaurant. I got the Crayfish Skagen and Potato Rösti as starter and the Roast Lamb...

The place is excellent, The food is excellent and the staff is excellent. We had blackroot soup and some garlic bread for starters. Good portions and really tasty. For the main we went for marmored steaks with thyme roasted potatoes and pepper sauce. Theres an option to go for a double stake so ofcourse i had to see that through. One steak was enough to make you full with the potatoes but i never felt like i could stop eating the second one. Again, really fair portions. For dessert, i could not eat another bite but my wife had the mango pannacotta. We are not fancy eaters but to our taste everything was cooked to perfection. En ole aiemmin tullut arvostelleeksi Medaria jostain syystä tänne, mutta nyt sen teen. Jotain on tapahtunut, ei ole enää sama paikka kuin ennen. Aiemmin ollut se varma paikka, josta saa varmasti hyvää ruokaa, mutta nyt kokemus ei ollut niin hyvä. Angus-härän pippurikastike oli överipippurinen ja suolainen, samoin pihvin kyljessä olevat perunat olivat upporasvaiset ja äärisuolaiset join vettä koko illan kotona kun tuli niin suolaöverit. Pihvi itse oli kyllä maukas ja hyvä. Tämä oli ensimmäinen Medarissa saamani huono ruoka, jota oli jopa vaikea syödä, mutta en kehdannut paikanpäällä reklamoida ja jättää syömättä vaan söin annoksen väkisin. Toinen seurueestamme saman annoksen ottanut jätti yli puolet syömättä, hänen kokemus Anguksesta oli sama kuin minulla. Mutta muun seurueen tilaamat toisenlaiset pääruoka-annokset olivat kyllä heidän mielestään maukkaita.

Odotimme pääruokaa ainakin n. 1h20min, mikä oli tosi pitkä aika, vaikka tilaamamme ruoat oli ilmoitettu ravintolaan jo 4päivää aikaisemmin. Tarjoilija unohti meidät myös, kun emme saaneet pyynnöstä huolimatta vettä, kun vasta aika pitkän ajan jälkeen. Kiireessä toki sattuu ja tapahtuu.

Ottamani suklaakakku oli todella hyvää ja onnistunutta. Seurueessamme omenaa ja kanelia ottaneet pettyivät omaan jälkiruokaansa, omenat maistuivat kaikkien mielestä kamalilta, ihan kuin omenat olisi olleet käyneitä ja niissä maistui jotenkin inkivääri, mutta annoksen munkki oli herkullinen.

Meitä palvelleet tarjoilijat olivat ystävällisiä, paitsi yksi oli sen oloinen, ettei haluaisi olla siellä, toivottavasti työolot...
