Holy Smoke — Restaurant in Seinäjoki sub-region

I came in with high hopes as the place was recommended from two different sources. Prices are quite high considering the nature of the area, so I was cautious when placing my order, and chose halloumi fries with mango chutney for starters, and they were great.

However, the main course was a 18.5eur double stack burger with cheese and bacon. The lack of ambition is so apparent in the burger it was sad to eat. The patties resemble supermarket patties and I would be ready to bet they arrive frozen to the kitchen. It smells like flame grill around the place and I may have noticed the flame grilled scent in the dish, but otherwise it lacked everything a tasty burger should have. I feel pity for those who choose a plain burger, as this had no soul whatsoever.

Burger was supposedly with cheese and bacon. Perhaps the cheese was the yellow sauce on it. Other things resembling cheese there were none.

As a cherry on top, without mentioning the rude waitress, we moved indoors after the meal and I ordered Napue GT. Considering the recipe is world famous award winning stuff from the village next to this place, I was surprised he prepared it as it would have been with Hendrix. After I returned the drinks, he came back in a minute after removing the cucumbers and replacing them with cranberries and rosemary like in the proper napue GT. Otherwise ok, but now it tasted like cucumber.

Just barely worth two stars for nice starters. Otherwise , sad and overpriced experience.

I was here two times. The first time I was at Holy Smoke we ordered burgers and my fiancee chose the butter potatoes. She found them very soggy like they had been first cooked and later deepfried in too cold butter which set her off quite a lot. The salad was okay but the burgers tasted very dry and compact (one was horse and the other moose which are by definition no cheap cut). Because we were very hungry we still ate everything. The experience was disappointing. The second time we went there we were with friends and ordered something more standard. I ordered chicken wings as a starter which were very bland tasting. Without the dips they were very "natural" to say the least and in some cases not as done as my fiancee's stomach agreed with. My steak salad was not spectacular but it was very solid. The burger she chose was alright, yet nothing special.

We had high hopes when we arrived at Holy Smoke, but unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. We waited for a server for around 45 minutes, and not once did anyone acknowledge us or offer even a glass of water.

In my opinion, this kind of wait is completely unacceptable, especially when there were empty tables and staff visible in the restaurant. After waiting patiently and being continuously ignored, we decided to leave.

Sadly, I can't comment on the food because we never got the chance to try it — but based on the service alone, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this place to anyone. Älkää...
