The old La Terrasse restaurant closed in June 2025. It is now the Taj Mahal Indian restaurant, having opened on the 14th August. My wife and I went there during its first week of trading. It is one of the better Indian restaurants that I have dined at in France. They speak French and English and cater to both the milder French palate and the stronger/hotter English Indian taste. The décor is pleasant and welcoming. The menu resembles one you'd find in England, with the usual starters such as Tandoori chicken or lamb, Bhajis and Koftas, salads and dips. The mains feature a wide choice of meats and seafood in recognisable sauces such as Korma, Masala, Madras and Vindaloo, with all of them available to order in the hotter English style if desired. The usual accompaniments of naan breads, parathas and various rice dishes complete the mains selection. There are no separate vegetable side dishes on the menu. The sweet menu was a little short and disappointing but may improve with time. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and one that we intend to repeat fairly regularly. The food was really nice, aside from the cheesy naan. The chicken masala and Bombay potatoes were great and served well. However. The atmosphere threw us off. We had some aspiring artists next to us, gave us a free beatboxing show. Didn’t enjoy that. Woman behind us kept burping like when Shrek drinks his cocktails. Après avoir testé d'autres restaurants de Bagnoles de L'Orne, mon choix s'est porté sur La Terrasse. Et je n'ai pas été décu. Des prix plus que corrects (29 euros le menu Entrée / Plat / Fromage / Dessert), des plats délicieux, et un accueil très sympathique des 2 personnes en salle. Que dire de plus sinon que voir que la plupart des convives sont des habitués montre que l'adresse est bonne. Et ici on ne pousse pas l'addition. J'ai calé sur le menu à 29 euros en ne prenant pas le fromage. Du coup le tarif a été revu à la baisse.
Un regret : les jours de fermeture trop nombreux.
