We were travelling between Bordeaux and Limoges and left the main road to find some fuel. The L'Eclerk garage was the cheapest fuel we'd found in France so far (first bonus). It was approaching lunchtime, so we opted to visit the village and find somewhere to eat. We parked in the free, open air car park down by the river next to the Chateau. What a pretty place! Right there, in among this beautiful setting, was the restaurant La Moulin du Chateau. It was as if it was calling to us, "Come to me, eat here!" So we did. Although the staff didn't speak much English, and we only speak a few words of French, we managed perfectly and they were really friendly and welcoming. The place is really popular and although we didn't have a reservation, they quickly got us seated - and on one of the best tables there, right by the water's edge. There is a really happy, family-friendly vibe to the place that we loved. We have been travelling around France for 3 weeks and I can honestly say, the beef I had here was the best I've experienced anywhere. So soft and tender and cooked just how I like it, medium-rare. The other dish was just as delicious too. The prices are amazing value, only €16 for the beef, including the sauce. This place was one of those hidden gems you sometimes come across when being spontaneous and we absolutely loved it!! We highly recommend you visit and enjoy a meal by the...

We have dined here twice and both times were wonderful, languid lunches in balmy air on the terrace, served by staff who clearly love their work and collaborate well together. The food - savoury waffles first time and calves cheeks the second time - was staggeringly good, especially the calves cheeks, which melted in the mouth. I urge you to beat a part to the door of Le Moulin fast - you will not regret it. We paid 75 euros for two courses with wine and coffee for two. It was just perfect and this restaurant is now one of our favourites. We will be...

Good serving from start to finish. Great setting and lovely food. At least 30 covers, on the terrace, at the start of October must be a good sign. Good access and toilet facilities for those with limited mobility. Surprised that someone found the chef rude in a well managed business, surprised the chef even had the time, but you can’t please everyone.

Waouh, Waouh, Waouh.
