La Playa ... en Camargue — Restaurant in Arles

We had a fantastic day at La Playa From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Felix, who was incredibly helpful and spoke both English and French perfectly. He was so patient with our shaky French, which we really appreciated.

The location is ideal — right on a beautiful, clean white sand beach that La Playa clearly takes great care of. There’s a convenient car park just next door (only €6 for the day), which made everything super easy.

The sun loungers were really comfortable, and having access to showers and clean toilets was a big plus.

The food was absolutely superb - we had the smash burgers which were juicy and full of flavour, followed by two unforgettable desserts: the 'Playa Lova' and the 'Dôme Chocolat'. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. My partner also enjoyed two perfectly made espresso martinis!

The entire staff was wonderful. They were attentive, friendly, and dealt with a lot of people in very quick time. Everyone made us feel welcome, even when we didn’t fully understand something.

We arrived before 12pm, a group of 4 people and we ordered several meals, oysters among them, and wine. After 3pm one of the girls found sick herself, and she had to go to the toilet. Once back, could not avoid vomiting again, this time on the sand of the beach, one of our group is a doctor and took care of her, we were very careful and the customers around didn’t notice anything. But the owner appeared and, without caring about my friend’s health or if he could help her in any way, he kicked us out of the local because he assumed we had drunk too much! After arguing with him, I paid the bill (expensive, by the way) and next I requested for the complaints book, he told me there are no complaints books in France, suggesting me to write my claim on the waiter order paper! As an alternative, he suggested to call the police. Displeased by such arrogant attitude, null professionalism and respect, I preferred him to call the police. The police came and after exposing the facts, he apologized but with an arrogant and false attitude. After few days, once back to Barcelona, a specialist told my friend that probably the reason was the oysters. We never saw such lack of...

What started as a lovely surprise for my girlfriend on her birthday turned out to be big disappointment, we arrived at le playa 12-15 the agreed time on reservation, there was 6 adults and one enfant, we ordered tapas before the starters then the main course, all the time ordering drinks.... Then we ordered dessert..., before the dessert arrives, we are asked to move to the back of the restaurant because 2nd service is starting??? We are sitting in the sun with a 1 year old enfant so we ask to be moved, great they move us to a table for 4(we are 7) then... When (I hope its not the boss but who knows?) says he is tired because he was up at 5am and tells us to forget dessert and go we said fine, we paid 376 50 euros and went, this is my first ever negative review (maybe my first review ever) but it has left me feeling disappointed on what has been a great holiday in St mariés de la mar, we are staying at Mas de Cocagne and it is the best I can't...
