Restaurant Le Transvaal — Restaurant in Auxerre

Passing through town we stopped here for lunch since the terrace looked inviting. Unfortunately the exterior was already booked solid but there was room inside. We had a good lunch here. Nice local dishes paired with a good selection of local wines. Staff was friendly and helpful. It certainly did not disappoint!

p.s. I do like the owner's response to some of the reviews. Yes, it is a busy place during lunch and the staff is really working hard and doing their best. So, a little mistake here and there? So what, take your time and enjoy...

Étant à St Fargeau, j’ai profité de l’occasion pour retourner dans ce petit restaurant que j’avais pu tester il y a quelques temps. Je fus fort surprise ! Depuis ma dernière visite, de nombreux aménagements ont été effectués. Nous avons été installés sur la terrasse fraîchement rénovée du restaurant. Le cadre était absolument splendide. La terrasse était parfaitement aménagée et, qui plus est, brumisée ! Par ailleurs, le service était rapide et le personnel agréable. Enfin, la cuisine, évidement, était excellente et permettait l’exploration de saveurs nouvelles. J’ai pu discuter avec le personnel, et il semble que le chef ait récemment changé, apportant de nouvelles idées à ce restaurant. Vous l’aurez donc compris, je vous recommande vivement l’expérience du Transvaal ! A tester...

Very nice welcoming upon arrival at 8.45pm on a very busy Saturday, we ate indoors, food and drinks were excellent, I had boeuf bourguignon and was tender with a really good sauce. The chef knows what he/she is doing in the kitchen. Will come back again...
