Maison Montagu — Restaurant in Avranches

We and the kids stopped here en route to Mont St Michel from mid-Normandy as needed some lunch. We were glad we did. We had two noissette coffees (Cortados back home) which were a good strength. The kids had smoked salmon sandwiches which they liked and we shared a vegetable quiche with potatoes and a roast chicken Sandwich. Both were superb. The pastry on the quiche was just right. The boys then had Nutella cookies and we had some chocolate and walnut marble cake, which was not long out of the oven and absolutely superb. All the food is homemade. The friendly young couple running it explained that she takes care of sweets and he the savoury. There is ample seating inside, and given the quality of the food, the pricing is very good. Will definitely look to return when we are back...

Came across this as it started to rain. This is take-out or eat-in. Menu options are limited but delicious with a wide variety of well-made and cooked ingredients as in good restaurants. We were on holiday and they helpfully spoke English. Friendly and helpful to all customers. Lots of locals coming in to order, many staying to eat. We had a salad Jaya and quiche with salad and potatoes, and coffee which was great. Kept hearing them describing the desserts which sounded delicious. I would have ordered one, and one of their enormous signature cookies, and some crepes to go, but the queue was too...

Totally recommendable!!!

Very warm and cozy restaurant. Really good food, we had chicken sandwich, vegetable salad and a side of baby roasted potatoes with home made mayonaisse. All of it was cooked perfectly and tasted really good. The gentleman behind the bar was really nice and smiley, engaging on conversation with us and showing interest.
