A real nice restaurant near the mont st michel hotel/parking spot before you get to head to the Le Mont St Michel Island! Entree
We ordered a soup (Soupe de Poisson) It had a very strong fish taste and is very savoury. Personally its not my thing but my other family members loved it.
Salade du terroir
Their Salad was very fresh and like the restaurant name the gallete was very crispy and paired with the vegetables very well!
We tried 3 mains and shared.
Poisson du moment(fish of the day) - the fish was cooked well wrapped with a bacon strip. However it was kind of bland. But the vegetables that was cooked along with the sauce was the surprising star of the dish!
Asiette mix (mixed meat platter) -
Amazing platter with Pork belly that was braised and cooked to perfection. The fat was melty and the 3 layers each with an amazing flavour profile. The Sausage was juicy and thick. The lamb cut was also very well smoked.
Pave de boeuf grill - (Beef steak)
The big big grilled onion was very juicy and it was a nice pairing to the steak. However the stick was ok and not fantastic. A bit on the dryer side. However for the price it was not too bad.
We didnt have dessert as we were very satisfied with the food we ordered. Great place...
Read moreNicely introduced ourselves upon entering the restaurant. Total respect towards French language, so did our best. Asked if it's ok to speak English. Were told that all tables are booked. Fair enough. But when leaving, two more French speaking couples were seated. They had no reservation. Our French was ok to understand that! A sign saying "not serving English speaking customers" on the door would help avoid disappointment. Should have read reviews here first. Seems to be the norm for this place. Really upsetting considering it's not some small countryside place, but a main restaurant on the way to a major tourist attraction. Not everyone in the world is able to speak French. You should be a little more considerate being in the hospitality business. English is not my first language, but it helps me communicate with the people. Not in de la Galette, clearly! Now enjoying a great meal in a welcoming place across the road called...
Read moreThe staff here went out of their way to help us have a great dinner late on a Friday night. When we arrived we saw two people in front of us take the last table. We asked if there was space for two (in horrible French), and rather just say no and turn us away, he said if we could wait 5-10 minutes, another table was settling up. After we were seated, we did see other people get turned away, so they really didn't need to go out of their way for us. We had read the reviews about supposed different treatment of non-locals, but we had the exact opposite experience. The food was excellent, the staff was very patient with our broken French, and the atmosphere was great, as I think we were the only non-locals in the restaurant on this particular evening. I could not recommend this...
