Le Village — Restaurant in Béziers

We have just had a meal at Le Village, ordered a duck and a trout main course, the server who I think may have been the owner was very attentive and pleasant. The house wine was also decent. The food unfortunately was appalling, my partners dish was duck kebab with smoked ham along with a curry sauce, as a trained chef a combination I would never have considered, with good reason, even if the combination had in some way come together, the duck was well under done, which is fine if cooked well, i.e crisp on the outside and well rested, this was tough and difficult to eat, the potatoes on the side were flacid and greasy. Hower this paled next to what I had put in front of me, I was expecting a whole trout poached in a flavourful court bouillon, served whole with skin removed alongside a selection of tasty spring vegetables with some nice whole potatoes preferably roasted to compliment the poached fish.What I received was a watery flavourless vegetable soup with a small single fillet of supermarket rainbow trout floating in it, flacid skin still on.Whoever is cooking in this place is not a chef , they do not have the first idea. We may have had an off night but the fact that the server thought this was proper food to be serving makes me say...

Lovely evening meal at eight thirty with friends at Le Village in Saint- Chinia.

I'm in my fifties and have been to France many, many times, yet I had my first snails here at Le Village in Saint-Chinian 🐌. Such a cliché but yes, my first snails, why have I waited so long I ask myself? They were bloody lovely...in bread crumbs and garlic sauce.

Followed by a steak with roquefort blue cheese sauce; cooked bleu and cooked perfectly. Really nice meal. Not expensive. We really enjoyed our evening in Saint-Chinian. So relaxing.

The service was excellent. The food was very good. Our friends had the salmon and really enjoyed their meals too 😋.

We really enjoyed our meal at this restaurant, the menu was varied and freshly cooked. Reasonable cost too. We sat in the little area across the road, which was lovely. Special mention must go to the little waitress who spent all night running back and forth across the road, with a smile on her face....
