Tongcoco — Restaurant in Béziers

We went there July 2023 because a friend recommended it. I was disappointed by the staff and the service as I had heard that they were very kind and welcoming there.

We paid 12 euro for half a day and we had reserved sun beds the day before for three people. When we got there one staff member mocked my mother’s French, another was surprised we wanted to use the parasols for shade and told us the shade would come in the afternoon and we could move the sun beds ourselves if we wanted shade, instead of helping us. It left us quite disappointed even though we’re used to some French people’s attitudes as our friend had told us they are nice there but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. They played loud music the whole time so maybe not appropriate for small children who need sleep or people who want some peace and quiet.

Ate here the day before yesterday, the staff was friendly and the food was good but not special, and we paid for it with a good tip as a thank you. Today we ate for lunch (for 2 adults and 1 child) on a bed instead of at a table.

When paying, there was 24 euros on the bill because we sat on the beds instead of at the table. we ate for about 45 minutes. When asked if we could also eat at the beds, we were not told that this would cost 24 euros.

When indicating that charging hidden costs is very customer unfriendly, the gentleman seemed disinterested and could only say that a bed is different from eating at a table. 24 euros for 45 minutes of food is absolutely crazy.

Wanted a relaxing beach club day with friends. We are all locals and would have recommended this place had it been any good. We had read reviews and chose it based on the friendliness of the staff. Instead, we found the staff really really rude, particularly the lead waitress. Aggressive and with a major attitude problem. They got our order wrong. They acted like it was our fault. The waitress shouted and we felt really uncomfortable. The food was really overpriced and not good. We shall stick to Plage du Golf in the future....
