L'Estaminet des Meix — Restaurant in Beaune

This place has nothing to do with modern. Doesn't come even close! In the little town in Slovakia where I come from there are more modern places than this. Extremely overpriced for what it is and for the low quality of food. Also NO vegetarian options! We could only have 1 salad from which meat had to be removed and 2 side dishes of risotto - very tiny portions - and a still water and paid 36 euros! Outrageous considering the quality of the food, the non-English speaking personnel and the look of the restaurant! A bottle of still water costs 6 euros! We came from London where for this price we'd have a lovely and healthy dinner and to pay for a bottle of water 6 euros you'd have to go to a really posh place, not a small below average restaurant in the middle of nowhere in France. Plus the staff was arrogant when I complained. Seriously bad. Do not go there if you can. Value...

Lovely Beef Bouguignon with lovers of Jack Daniels. Stopped for a little lunch while wine tasting with my U.S. family. Snails, great cheeses and creme brulee. Then, when I went to the restrooms, found the treasure trove of Jack Daniels's memorabilia. A little taste of home in the heart of Burgundy. If you're American, best to avoid this place. They're rude and arrogent. I suppose you expect to be overcharged in Puligny Montrachet, but I was shocked that they only had one P-M by the glass, non-cru, and it made me feel sick.
