Tea Cosy — Restaurant in Bordeaux

One of my favourite places in Bordeaux. The food is amazing, from the main dishes to the very well priced cakes to order. The Guiness bread is a particular highlight and I orded the half-portion vegan chocolate cake for my wife's birthday and it was delicious (we're not vegan so no bias!).

I honestly do not understand the one or two negative comments. We have been to the Tea Cosy many times, as we used to live nearby. We've moved further away but still go there because we love the food and the atmosphere. The owners and all the staff have always been super friendly, and lovely to chat with, always smiling and always happy to help.

My wife even took some of her English students there and the owners areanged a special English tea menu for the kids and made sure the staff interacted with them in English. I cannot recommend this adorable little café enough. If I could give more than 5...

Nice scones, not so friendly service. I got a nice hello when we got in, but the lady who served us never did smile- I checked it with the family. Maybe she forgot. That would’ve made us feel more welcome and than I would have given max stars. I didn’t hear a reply to my goodbye, but maybe it was too soft to hear. I understand the choice not to give clotted cream with the scone. But couldn’t imagine a restaurant in France without crème fraiche and the way the man said no (sorry, I saw no smiles here as well) gave me the impression he may have had it but no intention to give it. It is solely based on the feeling we weren’t welcome in spite of the cozy style of the restaurant. I would give you a 3,5 star if possible, but 4 is too much for me. Whether for lunch, coffee or a sweet treat, it is always a delight to go to Tea Cosy! The owners and staff are very friendly and take it to heart to ensure that you have a pleasant experience. I've taken two friends to lunch here and they both loved it. The food is the right balance between healthy (lunch starters & mains) and indulgence (the decadent cakes). I hands down recommend it!
