Nestled within a hotel (Les Elmes), La Littorine restaurant at Plage del Elmes in Banyuls-sur-Mer offers an extraordinary dining experience on the first floor, boasting a semi-covered terrace with breathtaking views of a picturesque cove along the stunning coastline of Banyuls-sur-Mer. The restaurant's spacious layout features a modern touch, evident from the elegant blue bar at the entrance, complemented by a tasteful incorporation of natural elements.
Our culinary journey commenced with a selection of delectable starters meant for sharing. The Anchois de la Cantabria, accompanied by confit peppers cooked au Josper and a luscious organic egg. Additionally, the assortment of artisanal croquetas served with their accompanying sauces proved to be an exquisite treat for our taste buds.
Moving on to the main course, the Plats à Partager for two was a feast of flavors that highlighted the best of the local cuisine. The Zarzuela de poissons aux gambas, bisque de homard et amandes, served with black pasta, was a true indulgence, offering a delightful medley of seafood delicacies infused with the rich essence of lobster bisque and almonds. The Parreillade de poissons du jour, a selection of grilled daily catch, was a perfect representation of the region's freshest offerings, tantalizing our senses with its simplicity and authenticity.
To accompany meal, we indulged in the Domaine Gardiès, Les Glaciaires vin bio 2022, a wine that perfectly complemented the array of flavors presented on our plates.
The young, knowledgeable, and hospitable staff at La Littorine further contributed to the restaurant's warm and welcoming ambiance. Their attentiveness and genuine passion for the local cuisine reflected in the exemplary service they provided throughout our meal, making us feel like cherished guests.
Furthermore, the toilets at La Littorine are an absolute must-see for their exceptional design. Often overlooked in many restaurants, here, the attention to detail extends even to the restroom facilities. As you step into the lavatories, you are transported to an artistic sanctuary that perfectly complements the restaurant's modern and natural theme.
La Littorine is an absolute must-visit for those who appreciate the authentic flavors of the Cote...
Read moreFor a Michelin Guide restaurant, we would expect more. Service was in a hurry, like a factory, order, your meal, no recommendations. We ordered some good wine, and a guy came with a different one because our is sold out. We got a 2013 year which should be put in a carafe for breathing, and wine opened after 1.5 hours! Food, above ordinary, delicious, with creativity and delicious sauces. We had terrific fishes/seafood and some also good starter with eggs but average rabbit (with all those bones, I had to eat with hands like a tiger). Desserts - I liked fruits aspic, but instead of sweet fondant, I’d rather have some not so sweet an atypical...
Read moreThe food was amazing! Special mention to the Pluma de cochon with sweet potato & vanilla purée and the Grand Cru chocolate dessert. The fish dish was good but not as amazing as the pluma. Same for the chestnut pavlova that was delicious but a bit too sweet and overpowering. The staff was the kindest. It was raining heavily and we had decided to walk to the restaurant so we asked the staff for a taxi or a potentiel ride. The lady at the reception gave us a 5min ride to our hotel downtown. Thank you so much for this experience! We will definitely come back and maybe to the hotel as well this...
