This hotel has not allocated us the room we booked and paid in April. If you book a room do not accept room 1. Our booking was for a sea room with a photo showing 2 windows on booking.com.| We got there very tired after a full day driving to it. We decided to not venture out for a meal elsewhere but when we got to the restaurant we were approached by a waiter or so we thought but it turned out he was the 'Directeur' manager apparently!!!| There is something terribly wrong with his manners as as soon as he heard my partner voice who was shocked as well as me by his weird manner of turning his back from us with a mumble of: 'oui oui je regarde pour une table' with a manner of annoyance from him. My partner was simply shocked to see him in this stressed manner and we both looked at each other and nodded in harmony saying lets go and my partner said to him as he was still looking away don't worry we going and we walked away. As we were leaving I notice the food on a customers plate of very over cooked chips !!! lol|I say; he did us a favour as we had the best meal out we couldn't have done better than the Goeland just a few minutes away. I highly recommend this place as the reception was amazing by all staff there and to eat out, as everything there was so delicious and with a massive array of desserts to die for.|Going back to hotel room realised the click clack bath plug wasn't working. In the end it turned out it was full of brown grime and I have photos to prove this. Then a plastic bag taped over the smoke alarm !!!!!!!!! and my partner telling me the socket near the door was lose so didn't touch it. This hotel room should have not been allocated while in this state. It is an embarrasment which we couldn't be bothered as we were just so damn tired but the noise with the stair case and the fire door kept us awake for longer than we would have preferred. I have put a complaint with booking.com too but read on trustpilot they are not concerned about customers complaints!!!!!!!!. It is a total disgrace really. He was offering a free breakfast but we had to go to the ferry so we left. I wish to report them to the French authorities for the security point of view. Plus the lack of concern !!!!.|And where do you know of a manager to come up to do the plug hole cleaning himself !!!!! He was apologetic in a way I feel but he was vague too. I have E mailed the hotel since our stay on the 25/05/24 with no replies what so ever and we are now the 31st. Hotel Le phare do not allocate room 1 to anyone. It is not a restful...

We stayed in lovely Ouistreham for a couple of nights. A lot of sightseeings in driving distance and a good number of things to see and do in town. This restaurant here was only a 5' walk away from our holiday home. The menu looked really promising. So we came here the day we arrived right away. Our Bulldog was welcome as well inside.
Staff/owner were teriffic. Wonderful people, friendly, helpful. Very relaxed. It was nice to meet them.
The food was so good we came every night for dinner here during our stay. Some of the dishes we've had:
Oysters: some of the best we've had on this trip
Andouilette w/ fries: a realy specialty, a sausage made out entirely out of guts; not something to eat everyday, but definitely worth a try
Steak Tartar: fresh, with raw egg; great dish
Fish filet - depending on the catch: very fresh, perfectly cooked (the sole was especially good)
Seafood platter: shrimp, snails and oysters: as everything here - wonderfully fresh
Foie Gras - mi cuit: served cold; great as usual - served with toast, some salt and chutney
Soft cheese platter: a nice selection of french cheeses
Mussels: a nice load of perfectly fresh seafood, served with fries
Saucisson: a french boiled sausage (fat, but that's where the taste comes from) with mashed potatoes, served in sauce/broth; wondefully presented, one of my favourite items
Some you can get as a set-menu combo for a good price. Nice selection of desserts as well (try the crème brulée).
Beer, cider, wine, full bar. Good selection, good prices here as well.
It's really a great place to dine. Lots of tables, outside too, as well as a covered wintergarden. A wonderful menu card with lots of amazing choices. You could select almost anything, it surely would be tasty. We tried many dishes, and they were all cooked perfectly. We really miss...
