La Casinière — Restaurant in Caen

Caen was one of the cities in our Normandy at our road trip , we arrived late right before dinner around 9 - exhausted and hungry , decided that we will find place to dine easily due to the fact it was Tuesday and already late . But we walked in at few restaurants, we found in internet, and been rejected by all of them . Though we were very tired we thought that “La Casiniere “ will be our last try . So honestly were not hoping even but tried . At the door we were met by Mr. Jerome ( as we got to know his name after ) who told us if we can wait about 20 min he will sit us up . So we got drinks and sot at the terrace . We could not even imagine that it will be one of the best dinners we had so far in Normandy . our first night here and we decided to try this restaurant our friend eat there the night before recommendation and tried it and said it was very good. We went and it was very good. I had the CBS the asparagus salad very good. One had the lamb which I thought was actually very good too, and one had the meat the steak of the day fairly reasonable price the two courses are €27 glass of wine were very reasonable, but I thought over price for half a bottle of water but I guess they can get it why not six euros I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Cuisine authentique et maîtrisée. Cadre sympathique, charmant, bon accueil et discrétion. En entrée un très très bon foie gras, assaisonnement parfait, qui se déguste sans rien ajouter avec un très bon pain. Pour le plat, un magret de belle qualité, belle cuisson bien réussie, sauce qui s'accorde bien, le petit bémol pour moi ce sont les légumes, tous cuits dans le même bouillon. Même si c'est bon et bien réalisé, j'aurais aimé un peu de textures et goûts différents sur ceux-ci . Pour le dessert, là aussi un peu décu même si encore une fois tout est bien exécuté. Le gâteau chocolat est très bon, mais le seul caramel et quelques morceaux de cacahuètes ne suffisent à équilibrer l'ensemble ce qui laisse une sensation un peu lourde au final. Un peu de douceur et de croustillant auraient sublimé ce dessert. Côté vin, une très belle proposition, de belle qualité, suggestion bien accordée avec chaque plat. Au final, un menu peut-être un peu excessif pour l'ensemble mais avec des produits de qualité. Je recommande et n'en sors pas déçu même si ce ne deviendra pas pour moi une adresse récurrente. Il ne faut jamais oublié le travail effectué et une critique reste de toute façon suggestive et propre au ressenti de chacun. Donc n'hésitez pas et allez découvrir ce restaurant sans hésiter...
