Restaurant l'Imprimerie — Restaurant in Caen

A Real Gem of Caen After a chaotic evening at Le Sans Gêne, we tried our luck on other restaurants around the hood but only Restaurant L'imprimerie accepted our last-minute request for dinner.

The owner was friendly and attentive. He went to great length to explain each entrees and plat in great details and in English to us the foreigners, which was exceptional and a quality you seldom come across in French restaurants in France. Even it's a small restaurant ran by 2 persons (the owner and a chef), they worked seamlessly and the dishes tasted enchanting. We ordered fish ceviche as entree and various plats (retour de peche, which is mullet, on risotto, Thai beef salad and Label Rouge chicken on rice with satay sauce).

The story does not end after the main courses. Since we could not decide on the desserts, the chef conjured up an amazing Cafe Gourmand, which showcased all desserts of the day on one plate but in petite size. They were mouth-watering and really demonstrated the chef's all-round culinary skill and attention for fine details.

Diner à 2 ce jeudi 28/07 dans une ambiance cosy et à taille humaine. Nous avons fait le choix de partager un ceviché en entrée, en guise de mise en bouche, idee que nous recommandons pour "lancer" votre diner. S'en suis pour ma part un supreme de poulet justement relevé et sa puree de patate douce pour un mariage qui fait mouche (photo 1). Je termine avec un millefeuille praliné vanille aux saveurs équillibrés et au gout bien présent. Nous sommes allés pour la première fois dans ce restaurant avec des amis. Quelle excellente découverte !! Une carte plus qu'alléchante, avec des produits de saison, très bien cuisinés, copieux et de très belles présentations. La joue de boeuf confite, l'oeuf croustillant et les frites maison étaient excellents. Les prix un peu plus élevés que dans certains endroits mais tout à fait justifiés.
