Nice location, but far too expensive for what it is and quality was below average. Arrived around lunch time for just a quick respite as we were travelling a number of miles in the afternoon. There were 4 of us who asked for a small drink each. One drink (IPA) that was served had gone off with floating bits of mould in the glass. The waitress laughed it off but did go and change the drink for another. The service was good, and she did return quickly with a different drink. As we weren't stopping long, we asked for a share platter of food. (The Notre Planche Terre Et Mer). The grey shrimps were soft and mushy, so these weren't eaten and the 'dry sausage' (4 slices of salami) didn't seem good value. The worst being the pink shrimp which had very full digestive tracts still left in them. Shocked that a business that 'specialises' in predominantly shellfish (shrimps etc) do not bother to devein them when serving them for restaurant dishes. They were disgusting, full of 'poo' and were gritty. Unfortunately, the language barrier made it difficult to air any complaint, and when paying the bill, received little eye contact from any member of staff to easily offer feedback. Paid over 50 euros for 4no 25cl drinks and one terrible platter of shrimps and salami. I am sure that the food is not all bad, but I would have difficulty recommending...
Read moreI’m sure this is a great place to eat. The food from what little i’ve seen looked great and the place had lots of customers. After getting a day off from my ship. Me and 2 members of my ships company, decided to pay a visit to all 5 Dday beach’s. This was Oct 8. At 1430, we attempted to eat at this location and was told by a gentleman working there that the restaurant was closing. I know this was a lie as I had just seen customers entering the location. We also looked at the hours online and it was clearly stated as opened. I have had this happen before when attempting to eat at restaurants in Europe and it’s always due to my race. I won’t blame the owner for what happened that day, but being back at sea right now with the navy looking for sea mines right off the coast of Normandy. Kind of leaves a sour taste in your mouth. I took a picture of the restaurant logo right afterwards so I could post a review. As a Canadian sailor, this is not how I pictured my visit to Juno...
Read moreSpent the day visiting my Great Uncles grave at Beny-sur-mer and my wife and I decided to have a meal near Juno Beach. Was greeted by a young lady who was quite rude and was impatient and making dramatic faces. Oh well, we ordered. She dropped off the food without saying anything and stormed off. I thought maybe she’s having a bad day and we ate. She didn’t stop by once during the meal even when we were done she looked once and never cleared the table or asked if we wanted anything else. I had to go up to the counter to pay. Another fellow was at the bar and I paid for our meal, and said Merci. He didn’t even make eye contact or acknowledge me. This is a tourist place with many non-French speaking people. To be treated this way put a damper on my visit to a place I’ve wanted to visit since I was young, shame on this restaurant for treating customers this way. Please avoid and spend your money somewhere that will...
