Situated almost opposite the fortified gate of Entrevaux, this two star hotel and restaurant offers comfortable, no frills, rooms & a decent restaurant.||We stayed for two nights, half board, in a room overlooking the medieval village of Entrevaux. The room had a large ensuite shower room, which was clean and well maintained, however the water took ages (about ten minutes) to run hot, due to the location of the boiler and the length of the pipes! The heating in both the bathroom and bedroom was quite efficient.||Breakfast consisted of freshly baked baguettes, croissants, pain aux raisins & pain au chocolat, with a selection of jams. Accompanied by glasses of orange juice & large cups of milky coffee or hot chocolate, they provided a pleasant breakfast.||Table d'hote dinner was tasty & beautifully presented. On the first night, a salad nicoise, followed by boeuf en daube with ravioli & on the second night, secca, a regional specialty dried beef, followed by baked cod with rice & savory stuffed tomato. There was a choice of tiramisu, apple pie or creme caramel for dessert...

This comes in total contrast with our experience in the village of Entrevaux - where I hadn't been since I was a student and found totally unfriendly and dilapidated. This is a shame for a village of such history. We understood the Vauban's boss, alongside some other locals, was pushing hard to improve things and this is certainly worth encouraging and...
