Genuinely am torn as to whether to write this review, the answer is in reality is a review must be done, mainly to say deepest thank you to all at Brasserie Marcel's for yet another amazing or in French délicieux meal. Let me explain why I was torn, if we highlight the truly excellent Brasserie Marcel's then it becomes a firm favourite (if not already) with all those ferry passengers returning home and locals alike, and a last meal on French soil. The answer is of course that the restaurant has a genuine love of food, using fresh local produce, and perfected the art of looking after their clients, great 'vibe' that for us now is nearly the first place to book on our visit to France through Cherbourg. Generally speaking ferry ports are a drive though on arrival, and a last shop on way back. Brasserie Marcel's is on the outskirts of Cherbourg, plenty of parking spaces, not far from a few hypermarkets, and would you believe shares the parking lot with WBS for all your Wines, Beers and Spirits! We had a week exploring Normandy in late Sept, my wife and I finally had delicious 6 snails for entree, and for the mains I fully committed to a entrecote (which now sits in my top 3 best ever), my wife had the prawns with the most amazing bisque, my in laws had also entrecote and sea bass, all washed down with a great Sancerre. Knowing this was our 'dinner' before getting on the boat, we went for desserts, mine was the raspberry trifle which was great, however my wife went for the apple pie (which doesn't sound anywhere near as good as 'tarte aux pommes') which was insanely good.... Thank you to the team at Brasserie Marcel's, usually the end of a trip is tinged with sadness upon leaving France, in a weird way I and my family look forward to the end of our trip, food and wine was well priced when compared to some of the touristy parts we visited like St Malo, and Honfleur. I don't need to convince anyone about going here, it is consistently brilliant, throughout the year, ie open all year except Sunday's. If team at Marcel's read this we did have one question, what is the connection or is there a connection with Marcel Marceau (he was born in Strasbourg) and Cherbourg/Brasserie Marcel's? There is a statue of MM in Cherbourg.

Maybe it was my mistake to order a burger in a French restaurant ,but hamburger was awful. It was overcooked outside and dry inside. ( Pictures attached) Even though I was very hungry, I couldn't finish it and was afraid to order anything else.BTW ,I showed it to the waiter, but didn't receive any response. I liked the decor and the atmosphere, but I usually don't go to a restaurant for the decor. And one more point : I ordered a glass of wine, and the waiter brought it to me from the bar without showing me which bottle it was poured from.
