La Dolce Vita — Restaurant in Cherbourg

The tagliatelle carbonara was inedible, over cooked and slimy and sitting in a base of watery milk that did notcoat the pasta. I did not eat it and informed the staff that any Italian would be ashamed to serve such a concoction. Both made no comment and took the uneatenplate away. To add insult to injury they tried to over charge for my wife’s meal and made no deduction or apology for my inedible food. They adjusted the cost of my wife’s meal when the error was pointed out but with no apology for the incorrect bill. This is the first time in 85 years of eating around the world that I have written a bad review but the food and staff attitude disgusted me. Stopped of in the town as our boat was late, we arrived 15 mins before the restaurant started serving, we decided to go to the bar across the street and get a drink. On return we were told that no table was available until 8pm. I can’t accurately detail the looks that me and my smartly dressed family were given and the complete lack of hospitality by this restaurant. At no point on our first visit did anyone mention that no table was available. Not one member of staff looked like they were happy to greet us. Terrible. What a fantastic restaurant. Was here tonight for the second time when in Valognes , France , such a lovely setting with seating inside and out , we both had the fillet steak with chips and both meal’s absolutely delicious, I had the same last time and my wife had a Pizza , then and yes WOW, the service was as last time excellent , the whole restaurant was very busy but the staff had it all so much under control .
