We had the gourmet menu this night - im so sorry but it was a disapointment. We were at the same restaurant 4 years ago were We Got a superb service and the gourmet menu was excellent. This time the food was flavourless - the foie gras with apple compot was quite good. But the entrecote course had no taste - the wegetables were as they came from a frost bag. No taste og totally Well done - no structure in the vegetables. The munster cheese was ok , but paying additional 5euro for getting a flambé is outrageus . For desert some chcolate ice together with sorbet ice - NOT a good combination. We Got NOT Wine for the course - staff apparently forgot us . Maybe he was busy - but the restaurant wasn't even Half full. For the Münster menu We had to remind Them regarding the wine. Paying almost 90euro for the gourmet menu wire one glas Wine to each course (except for the Desert) is to much. The Wine stub at Chambard in Kaysersberg serve better food for much less money.
Tonight The restaurant was not full - but still they did forget i have gluten allergy - and served the poached egg menu course with gluten. I love This little village with and excellent Winehouse nearby, but This restaurant is not...
Read moreI had booked the table a couple of weeks before the day and extended our reservation, as our group had become bigger. When we arrived and I stated that we had a reservation, three waiters huddled up and discussed for 5 minutes, before showing us to our table. It took another 5 minutes to realize, that our coats needed to be picked up. This pattern went through the entire evening: the recommended wine was unimoressive, we had to pour the wine ourselves, on request of non-alcoholic aperitives the answer was „no we only have juice“. So the service was rather poor (not a language issue).
The food was okay, but fairly unseasoned and uninspired. I went with the trout dumplings with snail tempura, because I was hoping for some creative cooking, but the dumplings were bland, the spinache sauce added a bit of a mud-nuance and the tempura was soft, wet and without any kick. Others from our party had the beef and were pretty happy.
The dessert was also...
Read moreWe arrived on a busy Friday holiday evening at 8 p.m. after unexpectedly having lost our reservations at another restaurant. Although the host's initial response was that they were expecting a large group and could not accommodate us, a table was set in the bar area. We were treated to wonderful service -- friendly, upbeat and amazingly attentive despite how busy they were -- and outstanding food (halibut and grilled octopus, along with a lovely squash soup and a 'perfect egg' appetizer) with an amuse bouche and bread. We enjoyed a very fine bottle of the family's own Riesling (Schmitt & Carrer). Prices were quite moderate (under E115 for 2), and the place was comfortable although bustling (we overhead that they had turned away over 20 people this evening!). We counted ourselves very lucky and...
