Pleasant, modern restaurant, bar, hotel. Friendly, accommodating staff. English spoken, but one really should try to speak some French. It will be most appreciated. They are genuinely friendly and will remember you on your subsequent visits. First name terms will occur soon after.

Be polite, and the world is yours. Bonjour, ca va, etc. Address everyone your eyes meet. Smile.

The food. Excellent. You won't be disappointed. Limited menu by English standards, but everything is good. Service perfect. Very attentive without being intrusive. A pleasant atmosphere increases your pleasure. Extensive wine list. Expect to pay anything between €50-€75 for 2 people. How much drink you order will obviously vary the bill.

Dress casually, but smartly for the evening service, which begins at 7pm. For the lunchtime service, a fixed menu is €15 and is hugely popular and served between 12-2pm. We regularly visit the Barriere, especially with visitors to Chabanais. The owner Sebastian is always very welcoming, as are all of the staff. Zoe zooms around taking orders but always has time for a quick exchange of pleasantries. The food is of the highest quality with some of the best steaks around.
