La Marine — Restaurant in Dieppe

The hell-o, hell-o restaurant.

We had to ask for an ash tray twice which was a sign of the kind of service to expect.

The starter from the 3-course meal we chose was not as advertised, we were told they had run out of ingredients, but still. How can you run out of seafood in a seafood restaurant? The starter for my wife arrived with a knife only. But hey, everyone is allowed one mistake.

For the main, my moules and frites were both luke warm at best. The portion of shells was fine, but they had not been checked for being closed, so I lost a fair few. Alas, the open shells mainly contained moules the size of gnats balls. Thank le bon Dieu that the harbour view and the entrecote for the wife were very good. Her chips were cold however. Asked for mayo twice and got one thimble full between us, after a long wait. They could have ordered it from a chicken in Nice in the time it took to arrive. The sea salt we asked for never arrived, but they waiter made up for that on this occasion by witholding all cutlery for my wife this time.

The carefully selected desert did not arrive either. My wife was promptly served the wrong desert. Come to think of it, forget the promptly. The correct desert did eventually turn up with the smallest of apologies adorning it.

So with a meal at 27 euro each and a few cokes at 4.70 a pop, we were more than a tad underwhelmed. The young(ish) server was very friendly but was far better at greeting the (passing!) locals than doing the job. The whole experience really does not look good when only serving 4 ppl on a huge terrace and we became the waiters.

While the entrecote made up for a lot, it would never be enough to return the fawlty towers of restaurants unless they offered a free meal and a generous...

Bad food it was all undercooked, the salad and the fish pot had the same vegetables one hot one cold. The bread was stale and the glasses and plates had dry leftovers of previous meals and was rather dirty and disgusting (actually forget rather a better word is very)

The service was fine but was very hard to get ahold of and they often forgot what you had asked for.

The drink glasses had lipstick on and the drinks didn’t taste like they were new or fresh and were like warm. As well as that the food took a very long time to come and it was already late but we still had to wait.

Never coming back here...

A la recherche d'un petit restau tranquille entre copines, la carte nous donnait envie. Bon accueil. Voilà ce qui a de positif. Le reste ... par où commencer ... on nous demande de changer de table car une tablée de 11 devait débarquer. Hors ils ne sont jamais venu. le serveur ! Une perle ! Mr ne prend pas en note la comande. De ce fait il a enchaîné les oublis et les erreurs ... Une amie demande une eau gazeuse, on lui apporte une bière (chercher l'erreur). De plus il ne connaît pas du tout le contenu de la carte. Il ne sait pas ce qu'on y sert comme boissons ni les sauces servies avec les plats. Pour lui on n'avait le droit qu'à du Ketchup et de la mayonnaise. Pas de biscuits apéritifs pour nous alors que nous avions pris des cocktails. Alors que la table voisine en a le droit. erreur dans la cuisson des viandes, erreurs de sauces. une de mes amies demande une salade tyrolienne (avec du chèvre chaud). On lui apporte une autre salade. Quand elle a enfin la bonne salade le chèvre "chaud" est en réalité des pauvres tranches de buchette froides posées sur du pain... moules servies sans cuillère à soupe donc on est obligé de mettre ses mains dans le fond avec la sauce pour prendre les dernières moules. De plus pas de rinces doigts. Peu ragoûtant... quand on demande juste un recipiant plus grand pour y mettre les moules vides. Le serveur a l'air blasé et se ramène avec au moins 6 cuillères à soupes (alors que nous avons commandé que 2 moules...). Sûrement à t-il entendu nos commentaires ? pour le dessert, une de mes amies n'a rien commandé et elle se retrouve avec une coupe de glace que l'on a du bien sûre payer ...

C'est dommage qu'à cause d'un seul serveur notre repas à été gâché. Car à côté de cela le repas a été correct. De qualité égale à celui d'une...
