Mon dieu! This is establishment had a lot to live up to since its’ namesake was renowned for his achievements. We started our meal with mussels and frittes. It soon became apparent that many of them were closed and many of those open were not cooked and appeared to be off. When asked if they were good we made clear they were not and explained why. We decided to share what was advertised as an “authentic pizza”. When it arrived we asked for 2 small plates and some black pepper. After waiting and having to repeat our request the waiter provided us with 2 huge pepper mills and no plates. After another request, we were finally provided with one huge pizza plate. We felt as though the waiting staff were put out by our requests add so they took the mickey. The pizza base was very thick and doughy. When asked later if it was good we said no as it had no resemblance to an “authentic Italian pizza”. We said that frankly we were not happy to pay for the mussels but we were charged anyway. As we were about to leave a couple were about to take our table but we advised against eating there and they quickly departed with us! I believe the staff should have taken the price of the mussels off of our bill or at least offered us a drink or dessert or something. I would not recommend this...
Read moreWe've visited twice now, one in 2022 and again in 2024.
Good when we visited back in September 2022 when we arrived shortly before 3pm and despite the kitchen closing at three we weren't turned away, we were simply told to order before 3 and we could still dine at Pizzeria Hemri IV. No problem. Good food.
Friendly service. Reasonably priced food & drinks with a nice outlook over the harbour.
But now, back again in October 2024. When we walked in the smell of the pizza and pizza dough was lovely.
The service and greeting on our arrival was excellent, so having originally given the restaurant 4 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 I'm now happy to go for five stars 🌟 🤩.
We had moules roquefort each accompanied by a 75cl pitcher of rose (€18). The sauce was reach and creamie and yet not overwhelming with roquefort, which was good. We then had a crepé with Nutella and a chocolate viennois with plenty of cream, whilst I finished with an espresso. All very good. The service was excellent.
The waiter even brought our pooch a large bowl of water.

Read moreWe were persuaded to enter this establishment by the straightforward menu. We were looking for moules frites, and here was an offer: 1 litre of moules of any sauce for the same price. Cushty. First impressions were good. Friendly, quick service to order. Mussels arrived in marmites, in the usual fashion, accompanied by good chips and- nice touch from a pizza outlet- a bun of warm baked pizza dough But, dear reader, the mussels! Shocking. Filled with sand, over-cooked, dozens of empty shells in a salty, watery liquor without the merest hint of onion, or garlic, or wine, or parsley or any other enhancement to flavour. And a large stone in one of the marmites. This love token I handed to the waitress, informing her by the bye that these were the worst mussels I had ever eaten enumerating, in detail, each of the above evident short-comings. This lady was non-plussed, suggesting that the sand was to be expected, it being windy and rough 'n' that...Yes. Really. There was no recognition of the appalling fodder offered, no acceptance of the dreadful fraud that had been perpetrated on innocent pensioners. We were offered a free coffee. We demurred. Rubbish.AVOUD. AT ALL...
