The food was delicious, a bit pricey even for the standard of the Riviera but the atmosphere was really lively and a lot of fun. The waiters at the table did an okay job, but a tomato had fallen on my father’s new trousers. However, that is not the reason why I gave the service only one star, as these things can happen. We had just sat down at the table and the waiters told us we had 2h to free the table (we were a table for 13 that arrived at 12:30, I get that you want VOLUME, but people do come here to enjoy themselves) We ordered rhum and asked for a cigar cutter, which came an hour and a half after we asked for it and we had finished our rhum. Finally, the barmaid was very rude, i went to get a bottle of water and asked if this was the right place to get one in a very polite way, she answered in the most agressive way I’ve ever been answered to in a restaurant. I’m in the hospitality business and there is absolutely no reason to answer someone like that, even the customer next to me who was being served said in an ironic way “très aimable”. We were both pretty shocked. Unfortunately, no matter how tasty the food is, no matter how great the atmosphere is, the service ruins the experience. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday and would have liked to surprise him with a second magnum of champagne at the table (one had already been ordered), but they said none of the ones under 7000 EUROS were available (Please…) and that they wouldn’t be putting any fizzy candles for our friend’s birthday because the bottles weren’t expensive enough (for a Ruinart Magnum😂). Finally, when we got to pay, we were accused of drinking from another table’s bottle, which is absurd because we had our wine and champagne. We ended up paying for that bottle to avoid making any scenes and ruining our friend’s birthday. It is sad to see these beautiful places get greedy and value volume over quality in everything except the food. We obviously left no tip. On an ending note, I really enjoyed the pool, sunbeds and the...
Read moreAll in all a disappointing experience! No one likes to be ripped off, no matter how much money you might have. Having a photographer going through, disturbing us during lunch to take a photo, might be a cute idea if they do it for their social media or hand out the photos as a nice memory to the guests. But later on trying to sell a digital copy of said photo for 50€ to us is beyond ridiculous. Same applies to their valet parking trick for which they charge 20€. First you pay 15€ to get into the parking lot anyway. It is a big self parking lot. Following the signs to get to Bagatelle, there was a guy waving at us, making it seem like we have to give him the car. That was the valet of Bagatelle who then parked the car a meter further. It wasn’t a busy day so the whole lot was empty anyway - also straight at the entrance. We could have done the parking ourselves. Picking up the car he just gave us the key, didn’t drive it to the entrance - which also wasn’t really necessary as it was parked close by. But charging 20€ for that is ridiculous. There was no vibe when we were there on a Monday for the 12.30pm seating. If you want music and a vibe make sure to go for the second seating and go on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. It was a bit disappointing. There is no proper temperature control. It was very difficult to enjoy the lunch because of the heat. Bagatelle is shielded off by some sand dune. Because of that you don’t have any sea view. You might as well be sitting in a courtyard in St Tropez town. Because of the dune and building surrounding the restaurant space there is no air flow. It was extremely stuffy. There are no ceiling fans. There is no water mist system - like they have at the Dior Cafe for instance. Of course no outdoor AC either. Why they don’t even provide cheap paper fans remains another question. That said, the food was great- of course expensive, but great. And the staff was friendly and forthcoming. That’s why they get the two remaining stars...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars, I would. We arrived at Bagatelle to have lunch and enjoy whatever was left of the sun. The restaurant was at most at 5% capacity. One would think that service would be top notch considering no one was there and there were at least 15 servers just standing around doing nothing and looking bored. Boy, were we wrong about that. Our server was some douchebag with slick-backed hair, tacky tattoos and a snobby and rude attitude to match.
Unfortunately, because we were not stepping off a million dollar yacht, we were treated like second-class citizens. Our server was dismissive and couldn't be bothered by a party of two spending such a lowly amount. He pretty much made everyone who spent "too little" in his professional opinion, feel extremely uncomfortable about what they were ordering. Keep in mind, this guy works as a server and looked as though he couldnt afford a better tattoo artist seeing as though his looked so cheap. He also made sure to point out bottle prices as if we couldn't afford them. It kept getting worse but you get the idea.
Anyway, onto the food. We ordered the 44 Euro crudités platter aka giant vegetable Platter. Was it worth it? Not really but it was a sight to see. I still think Club 55's is miles better. We had the veal as well. The veal was disappointing, cold, and bland. The pieces were cut unevenly with some pieces being way thinner or thicker than others. On top of that, they didn't even bother to plate it properly.
Lastly, cherry on top was the 100 Euro for 2 chairs. More expensive than Club 55 for horrible service and tasteless, overpriced garbage food. The only point I will give them is that they had nice beach chairs and decent music. But still not worth what was charged. Tip to the staff and management, if you didn't have customers, you wouldn't have money to pay your bills. To potential visitors, spend your precious time and...
