Café Valmer — Restaurant in Draguignan

Me, my girlfriend and another couple went out to dinner here last Thursday. Our friends both had fish, tuna and something else, and they were both satisfied to some extent (this is the reason for 2 stars)

I had a tuna tartare for starter and then I had a fillet and my girlfriend had the shellfish platter for one.

The tuna tartare were ok, I’d give that maybe 3 out 5. For the quite pricy fillet (40€) however they didn’t even ask how I wanted it done (they didn’t ask my friend who had tuna filet either). The waiter just took our order and stressed away. So when the main course arrived it was sadly a bit of a disappointment when it came to the fillet.

There were three quite sizable pieces of fillet, I’d guess maybe at least 250g in total, maybe 300. However, one of these were maybe medium to well done, the other two pieces were well done. For me who would have wanted my steak medium-rare this was seriously a disappointment. The pepper and mushroom sauce was nice just as the vegetables and the potato terrine. For 40€ this was however a very weak dish, 2 out of 5.

My girlfriend who had the shellfish platter (their smallest for one person) wasn’t directly satisfied. She loves oysters and mussels and generally all things shellfish but she felt like something in their flavors was maybe off. She did however finished almost everything except the sea snails, but this was a mistake. She ended up with food poisoning and a stomachache for soon 36h. Obviously 0 out of five, or even negative rating.

All in all I think a 2 out 5 is a fair rating. 2 out of 4 in our company we’re more or less disappointed, 1 even got food poisoning. With their price point their waiters level of professionalism and food quality...

Service was horrible, ordered 2 omelette and 4 crepes, they brought the crepes first, they forgot to bring the ice cream ordered. Omelette came after 1 hour . They brought the first bill which was 77 euros, returned the bill to them to remove the ice cream that we never received, they removed the ice cream and we received a 86 euro bill 😄 They increased the omelette price even if the price was clear in their menu. Avoid it if you don’t want to be annoyed

Your reply is incorrect, there was no petit dejeuner, only one orange juice, but I would not expect anything else from you guys, realistically it was a bad experience. I agree it was cheap, the cheapest we paid whilst in France but so were the services considering we paid for things we didn’t receive . You should try to improve your service instead of lying in your replies, peace ✌️

Let’s start again 😄, you lie again just like on the first reply that you deleted. I had the “courage “ to tell you 3 times before I was fed up. I am not going to argue for 16 euros that I paid for nothing. You made me 🤮 but you were not supposed to eat it. Don’t give menus to customers if your kitchen is closed dumdumb or say that your kitchen is closed, we had plenty of other options. Expensive for what you get. You are clearly paying for the "croisette" situation, even though your are not by the sea... Meals were fine, but not worth that price, and even more considering the quantities served in the plate. The child's meals are at the price of an adult meal in any other restaurant in France. I took the lobster and scallops, and there I got 3 scallops and one lobster arm... The biggest thing in the plate was the mayonnaise taking half the plate space.

Waiters were nice, but when asking questions about the meals, seemed like no one clearly knew or wanted to describe it. And to finish, the waiters manager wasn't nice at all,...
