A Hidden Gem in La Garde-Freinet A Must-Visit! We stopped by the charming village of La Garde-Freinet and had the pleasure of dining at La Cabane, an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owner and the daughter, setting the tone for a truly delightful evening.

This family-run restaurant radiates authenticity and passion. We started with the duck appetizer, which was perfectly prepared, followed by the catch of the day a beautifully cooked fish dish that was bursting with flavor. We visited with 2 other friends and had a very nice meal. The service was helpful (given we do not speak French). We tried 3 different starters - a home made tarpenade, a beetroot and goats cheese dish and a tomato and stracciatella, all were delicious. For mains we had a sea bream dish, charolais entrecote and caesar salad. My wife was not too keen on the caesar salad as the sauce had more anchovies than her taste. Ein echter Zufallstreffer! Bereits vor 30 Jahren gab es in La Garde Freinet ein wunderbares kleines Restaurant namens La Sarrazine mit den weltbesten Gambas. Als wir nun das Weingut Ultimate Provence besuchten und uns die dortige Küche nicht so zusagte, probierten wir das kleinere Restaurant La Cabane und waren rundherum begeistert. Ein sehr netter und geradezu herzlicher Service hieß uns willkommen und begleitete uns durch den Abend. Der Hauswein für 3,50 € wurde getoppt durch den deutlich besseren Superior für 5,00 € das Glas. Und das für 0,2 l! Der Knaller aber wahr das fantastische Steak Tatar und das ebenso gute Entrecôte, beide mit Ofenkartoffeln, dass Entrecôte zusätzlich mit einer leckeren Pilzsoße und Ratatouille.
