Vesuvio — Restaurant in Draguignan

It’s a 2/5. Went in with wife and kid with high expectations after great Google reviews, but unfortunately was disappointed. The food was just not great. The tomato sauce missed seasoning, it wasn’t horrible, but not so good. I had the Milanese steak and it was definitely a 2/5 — I’m sure they wouldn’t serve that to the patron, too much bred coating, too little steak. The salad that it comes with was sad. The service is not great either, sorry to say, they are friendly, polite and quick, but it’s the kind of service where they forget (neglect?) to clean up the bottle of beer + coke that are already empty from the first 20 minutes until you leave 45 minutes later. Or the wine glasses you never even used cause you did not order wine. Restaurant was at most at 20% capacity, waiters were not busy. Nice Italian Restaurant in the middle of a beautiful French little town. While visiting the French Riviera we stopped at Ramatuelle on our way back to our stay and what a gem we found, both the town and this restaurant. Ambiance was very nice and food was even better. We ordered the mussels, couple of pizzas, and spaghetti a la Bolognese. Pizzas were some of the best we have had.

Isabella: nice champignons as the highlight; Pizzaiola: charcuterie piquante and the egg as the perfect elements; and Calogero: nice carpaccio de bœuf with just the right amount of pesto (this part was key to me, some other places when you order a pesto pizza they add too much pesto which overpowers the taste of any other ingredient, but not here, they do it perfectly).

Don't forget to order the house cocktail Vesuvio, very nice summery cocktail with a base of local Rosé and some tones of cinnamon,...
