Aux Mets de Mémé — Restaurant in Dunkirk

We had the most amazing experience on Monday 4th August at ‘Aux Mets de Mémé’. Travelling via the Channel Tunnel from the UK, and finding a spot to eat that’s open by the French coast on a Monday was hard to find, however this gem was perfect! What a find. Glad I researched before I went, and was able to book a table in advance online.

The service was amazing - already geared up to speak French, we were surprised to find a wonderful English speaking waitress. The set menu was well organised, lots of an options to choose from, and surprisingly, really good prices!

The beef was cooked to perfection, probably the best French fries I’ve ever eaten and, followed by an apricot frangipane, and a glass of rosé.

A perfect spot if you’re in that part of France, and actually perfect for day trippers over to Calais, as this was a 28 minute drive along the A16, and into Grand-Fort-Phillippe, which was lovely too, and plenty of places of to park, with lots of free car parking around right by the restaurant.

Very nice restaurant with the view of the beach, the food was fresh and delicious. They used simple and fresh ingredients to innovate the tasty dishes. The steak was well seasoned and cooked, texture was great and juicy.

Lamb lasagna was average, a bit too dry.

Dessert - the apple pie was absolutely stunning, a must try.

We really enjoyed our dinner here and they understood and were able to cater to gluten free requests! The server was attentive and was able to identify what had wheat and what could be modified. The atmosphere was excellent, the wine list and recommendations were perfect and they accepted dogs. It was the perfect meal to the end of our holiday! We can't recommend this...
