I really don't understand why the reviews concerning this place are so positive. We visited this place twice with my wife and 2 teenagers during our holiday in Sisteron. The first time we didn't get the amazing feeling that everybody here is talking about. The food was ok but nothing more than that. You have to be a terrible chef to mess up a good pizza or a pasta dish. More important is the way customers are treated and in my opinion, at this place that was a very big problem. The first time we were not impressed at all about the service. The second time we went back because another restaurant we would've liked to go to was fully booked. We arrived at 7 p.m. The boss showed us (not in very friendly way) where we could sit down. After 10 minutes he gave us some menus (which were very sticky and dirty) and asked only me what I wanted to drink. I asked a cola zero and he walked away. A few minutes later he comes back and opens a bottle of water. Again after 10 minutes he asked us to move to another table (again, not in a friendly way). So they start to move some tables together for a large group of people. All the glasses, the knives and forks (all the stuff we touched, still covid around!) stayed on the other table. Another 10 minutes later the waitress started to take the orders of the large table. At the end we were sitting there 45 minutes, still with the menus in our hands. So my wife asked (in a normal way) the waitress when she will take our order because we were sitting there 45 minutes and nobody asked us what we would like to drink (except the sleepy and unfriendly boss who brought me the wrong drink). The waitress answered that she would come immediatly to take our order but that she wanted that everybody had something to drink. To that my wife answered that nobody asked her and our 2 kids what to drink. Her answer was that my wife could ask her this more friendly. So, after the answer of this arrogant queen of waitresses we left and went to another place where the dinner was much better. While paying for the water, the waitress repeated once more to my wife that she had been impolite. Instead of apologizing for us being there for more than 45 minutes without drinks or taking our order.
We never experienced something like that in all those years we come to France. We stayed polite at all times. She didn't. We discovered a few very good restaurants in the area. This definitely ain't...
Read moreNestled in the enchanting medieval village of Sisteron, in the heart of Hautes Provence, lies the charming restaurant, La Voûte. As you enter the village, you are greeted by a serene, car-free street adorned with a delightful array of dining establishments. At the forefront stands La Voûte, boasting a spacious terrace on either side of the street, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The first thing that catches your eye upon entering La Voûte is their extensive menu, which revolves around Italian-inspired cuisine. From a tempting selection of diverse pasta dishes to mouthwatering pizzas straight from a wood-fired oven. Additionally, their creative flair is showcased through a selection of daily specials on an inviting chalkboard.
The friendly staff adds to the overall pleasant experience at La Voûte, with one member even fluently speaking Dutch, a delightful coincidence for those who might find comfort in their native language. However, it is worth mentioning that we encountered a minor hiccup during our visit. Regrettably, the charcuterie, a shared appetizer, was overlooked and not brought to our table, causing us to jump straight to our main courses. Nevertheless, the main dishes were truly delightful. The bavette, accompanied by a delectable mushroom sauce, proved to be a succulent and well-cooked choice, while the pasta with walnuts and creamy sauce offered a delectable fusion of flavors.
The chocolate fondant melted in our mouths, an exquisite sensation for any chocolate lover, and the pannacotta was smooth and creamy.
La Voûte is a location that epitomizes simplicity and quality. The restaurant strikes an impressive balance between offering a wide variety of delectable dishes while maintaining an excellent...
Read moreBy far the best restaurant in Sisteron. The quality of the food and wine is exceptional. I have stayed in Sisteron for a week and I have visited La Voute 8 times! They have a beautiful range of salads as an entree of plat. The meats are excellent, I tried the entrecôte and the lamb and both were superb. At lunchtime they offer at Plat du Jours - I wouldn’t even ask what it was, just order it! Why? - because the chef buys a fresh ingredient each day and therefore it is always fresh and delicious. If you need an energy boost then the pizzas are out of this world, very fresh and cooked in an ancient iron oven. The drinks are all of a very high standard and the prices across the board are extremely good value. The family who own this bistro restaurant and their faithful staff are so helpful and friendly that I feel like I’ve made some friends there for a long time to come. I will return to Sisteron regularly and I will always eat at La Voute… no...
