Charly's — Restaurant in Gex

Practically the only bar in SGP, so you don't have much choice, but I like it and I think it's still very good in comparison with other cities/countries. The owner and the staff are always very friendly, and you can normally order your drinks directly at the bar, without usual bullsh** "installez vous svp, j'arrive". If food is available (not every day), it's also quite ok, and if not, you are always allowed to bring sth from the kebab nearby. I only have one complaint: you must do some maintenance on the beer dosing machine. Since the end of 2022 whenever I'm ordering one of the first Charly Wells beers, its taste is unbearable, like it got rotten inside the pipes. Sometimes I ask the bartender to change it for me, and they never refuse, but this is simply annoying and...

The exterior area around Charly's Pub is recently renovated and very nice, with an open "square" and fountain. Cherly's is the same excellent pub that it has always been. Good beer and lots of variety and, of course, all the different other goodies that you would expect. My French is almost nonexistent, but thankfully, the folks at Charly's also have good English. And, while Charly's has good eats, if you really want a great lunch or dinner, go to Magnum Kebab, just a few meters away and chow down with the best kebab in Saint...

Great place but a bit pricy. The Mont Blanc beer is awesome. A great place for catching up and they will always give you some peanuts...Particularly friendly Italian barman, and Joel the owner is generous and sociable! (He has often taken great pride in sharing some regional delicacy with me...
