Sitting in this restaurant is like stepping into a dream—gorgeous views and a vibe that's pure luxury, making it seem like a five-star experience from the get-go. The staff makes you feel pampered, and you can't help but get excited about what’s to come. But then, the food arrives and reality sets in. For a place with a Michelin star, you'd expect the food to be spot-on, but it felt like a letdown. The flavors didn’t hit the mark, swinging wildly from too rich to too salty, drowning out what were probably good ingredients. It’s almost like the chef tried too hard to make things fancy and ended up complicating it way too much. However, if you’re into wine, you’re in luck. The wine list is impressive, with lots to choose from, and it’s a definite highlight of the evening. All in all, while the setting and service are top-notch, the food unfortunately didn’t live up to those high expectations.

We had our engagement dinner at Louroc Restaurant at Hotel du Cap, and it was an experience we’ll never forget. We dined with a spectacular sunset view that slowly turned into a magical evening under the moonlight and stars. The service was beyond incredible from start to finish — warm, attentive, and thoughtful. I had the steak dinner, which they cooked tableside right in front of us — such a special touch. Even better, they surprised us with a beautiful congratulatory dessert to celebrate our engagement. This was hands down one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve ever had, and we’ll definitely be back.

Auch der Wein, den er uns empfiehl, hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Besonders beeindruckend war, dass einige Speisen direkt am Tisch zubereitet wurden – so wurde ein Steak direkt vor unseren Augen gebraten. Zum Abschluss gab es eine großartige Auswahl an französischem KĂ€se, der liebevoll prĂ€sentiert wurde, und einen Digestif-Wagen, der den Abend stilvoll abrundete. Der Pianospieler, der den ganzen Abend ĂŒber Live an einem FlĂŒgel spielte, war ebenfalls gigantisch. Als kleine Überraschung durften wir zum Schluss noch handgemachte Bruchschokolade mit nach Hause nehmen. Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis, das wir jedem weiterempfehlen!

For the past 29 years, it has been our family tradition to have at least one, if not more, dinner at the Bastion of culinary standard in the south of France, Louroc. Aside from the 2-3 years of COVID disruption, this ritual was ardently respected. Furthermore, the whole family of 9 people would have their famous Steak Diane, a slightly embarrassing but nice custom. With a lot of begging for a booking for four, we finally got one last night. After fighting road blockages in Cannes, Golfe Juan, and an accident in Juan Les Pins, we made it to the restaurant 30 minutes late. Luckily, many other guests had the same challenge and arrived after us. We were immediately told the tasting menu is not available, I was unfazed as I was looking forward to the Steak Diane. Sadly, like the entire change in the staff, I could not find our Maitre who has known us all these years, the whole menu was changed. It was missing the Steak Diane! I pleaded with the head waiter for the revered plate; he said he would speak to his management for special approval. His answer was shocking: Sorry, we can only make this plate for hotel guests! So for more fortunate people who have homes or boats, and do not need to lodge at the hotel, are deprived of eating the Steak Diane! The menu was unimpressive indeed. We all settled for various dishes that, in all honesty, tasted like hospital food. Nous avons dĂźnĂ© Ă  3 menus dĂ©gustation et nous avons Ă©tĂ© trĂšs déçus. Le cadre est magnifique (vue sur la mer par de grandes baies vitrĂ©es, piano bar et lounge). Mention spĂ©ciale aux morceaux choisis par le pianiste. La table et la salle Ă©taient mal Ă©clairĂ©es. Nous avons attendu plusieurs minutes dans l'entrĂ©e. Nous avons commandĂ© du vin, la sommeliĂšre nous a apportĂ© une autre bouteille que celle que nous avions demandĂ©e. Ensuite, elle a versĂ© le vin dans un verre sale. Lorsque nous le lui avons fait remarquĂ©, elle nous a dit que ce n'Ă©taient que des traces d'usure sur le verre. Nous avons dĂ» insister pour qu'elle nous le change. Elle a laissĂ© plusieurs centilitres dans l'ancien verre. Nous le lui avons fait remarquĂ© et nous avons senti la vexation. Par la suite, nous avons demandĂ© au serveur pourquoi il y avait des couteaux Ă  beurre... sans beurre. On nous a rĂ©pondu que "c'Ă©tait ainsi dans les Ă©toilĂ©s" le beurre n'est qu'Ă  la demande. Nous avons dĂ©jĂ  dĂźnĂ© et dĂ©jeunĂ© dans plusieurs restaurants Ă©toilĂ©s : nous avons Ă©tĂ© surpris par cette rĂ©ponse, d'autant que nous avons vu des morceaux de beurre traĂźner sur la table du service toute la soirĂ©e (est-ce bien hygiĂ©nique ? ;) ) Nous avons Ă©galement entendu une serveuse dire "qu'il n'y avait plus de couteau Ă  poisson nulle part", peut-ĂȘtre la raison pour laquelle on ne nous en a pas donnĂ© avec le thon. Puis, nous avons entendu qu'il y avait besoin d'un sommelier d'urgence Ă  la table xx... en rĂ©sumĂ©, tout le back office se faisait en front office. Nous avons Ă©galement remarquĂ© que tous les fromages Ă©taient servis avec le mĂȘme couteau. En matiĂšre de cuisine, un bon rĂ©sumĂ© serait que la partie salĂ©e Ă©tait loin d'ĂȘtre Ă  la hauteur d'un 1 Ă©toile. Une premiĂšre entrĂ©e quelconque (un peu amĂšre), une seconde entrĂ©e bonne et Ă©quilibrĂ©e, mais sans cuillĂšre, difficile de profiter de la purĂ©e de courgette. Le premier plat de poisson Ă©tait accompagnĂ© d'une salade peu agrĂ©able : ce n'Ă©tait pas de la sauce salade mais de la sauce Ă  la salade, dans laquelle nous avons tous cherchĂ© l'asperge annoncĂ©e. AprĂšs explication, il s'est trouvĂ© que seule la queue (peu de goĂ»t donc) y Ă©tait prĂ©sente. Le second plat de poisson Ă©tait froid, deux personnes ont eu droit Ă  2 cuillĂšres de sauce, une personne n'en a eu qu'une seule. En matiĂšre de goĂ»t : la sauce ne liait pas, la garniture du rigatoni Ă©tait trop amĂšre et trop puissante pour la pĂąte, le poisson en "cuisson douce" semblait Ă  peine cuit (pourquoi pas). De plus, ce plat Ă©tait froid pour toute la table. Quant au plat de viande, la sauce piquante et grasse Ă©crasait tous les goĂ»ts : celui de la selle d'agneau et des gnocchis. Nous avons apprĂ©ciĂ© la sĂ©lection des fromages. Tout a changĂ© Ă  partir de la cuillĂšre sucrĂ©e, qui Ă©tait brillante d'Ă©quilibre entre l'aciditĂ© et le sucrĂ©. Nous nous sentions vraiment dans un restaurant Ă©toilĂ©. Le dessert au chocolat Ă©tait delicieux. Nous craignions, Ă  tort, aprĂšs un repas aussi riche, de manger du chocolat. Cependant, l'Ă©quilibre avec la meringue au jasmin Ă©tait tel qu'aprĂšs un bien piĂštre dĂ©but, nous sommes repartis sur une note positive. La derniĂšre bouchĂ©e au nougat Ă©tait Ă©galement succulente. En rĂ©alitĂ©, si tout le repas avec Ă©tĂ© une dĂ©gustation de pĂątisseries rĂ©alisĂ©es par ce chef pĂątissier, la note sur la cuisine aurait sans doute Ă©tĂ© diffĂ©rente.

Pour résumer ce trÚs long commentaire : un service médiocre à passable dans un cadre sublime donnait une impression "m'as tu vu" que nous ne cherchons pas dans un étoilé. Quant à la cuisine, si la partie salée était décevante et pas au niveau attendu, la partie sucrée redonnait de l'espoir dans...
