Rita Mougins — Restaurant in Grasse

We visited the restaurant mid week during a very hot and humid week in August. There were fans dotted around but unfortunately not one of them covered our table of 8 which was positioned in the corner of an outdoor area where there was no space for the air to circulate. We asked for a fan but there wasn’t any spare and as such it was very uncomfortable in the restaurant. We have visited Rita’s several times and always found the service and food to be outstanding however on our recent visit the food whilst generally good, some of our dishes seemed like they had been sat on the pass for a while and were warm rather than hot. Regrettably the service we received whilst generally friendly was poor with numerous examples of having to ask for drinks several times before we received them and at the end despite giving a generous tip , we were called back to say that we had underpaid by €12 (we hadn’t) which meant a walk back from our hotel to resolve matters and when we got back, the restaurant had realised that we hadn’t underpaid after all and they advised us that they had made a mistake. The meal was a special meal for a birthday and we went to Rita’s based on our previous visits. Hopefully this was a one off experience and on our next visit the normal high standards...

We decided to share three entrées, a pizza and a bottle of wine between the two of us, but were told that sharing the pizza was unfortunately not possible. As we were about to spend 60€ on starters and 36€ on the wine, I got rather upset about this, and the night almost ended there as we got up to leave. At that point, the staff said that they would let us share the pizza. The rest of the night was lovely, with amazing food and ambience, and we even had desserts (despite being very full from three large starters and the pizza). Apart from the initial turmoil, the service was great and our waitress was cheerful and joked about the situation, which was clearly a result of the restaurant's policy and not her fault. 5/5 stars visit! We were a big family of 8 plus 3 young children there for lunch celebrating our parents anniversary. We were a bit late to our reservation and stressed but we were welcomed with such warmth and kindness. The service was extraordinary and we felt really taken cared of! We all enjoyed our drinks, wine, starters, main courses and desserts. If we were to recommend two dishes it would be the focaccia with jambon shared as a starter and the ravioli langoustines for main course. The terrace was lovely and charming!
