Beautiful and quite location, friendly staff, amazing food presentation, but quality could be improved.
Girlfriend and myself stopped over lunch for a bite and got a “Salad de Pitchu”, fried aubergines (starter), an octopus salad (also a starter), and fresh squeezed lemonade.
The starters were on the smaller size, and the octopus salad was more or a potato salad with some octopus. I enjoy potatoes with octopus, they balance the flavour and the texture, but it was the octopus/potatos ratio my mum used when I was a kid because octopus was expensive. It tasted good though. So if you’re not a big eater, go for it.
The “Salad de Pitchu” looked amazing, but eating was another story. Despite fresh and tasty tomatoes and some melon, there were only traces of jambon (could really do with a little more jambon). Also, at the centre of the salad was a small burrata which would have been super if it weren’t a bit old and dry inside. I’m Italian, I grew up with coffee and burrata, and I know that burrata’s taste changes very quickly from fresh to the next day, but that’s the thing about burrata: you either have it fresh, or you don’t serve it. The one I got here had a little sour taste and harder-dry consistency, instead of the creamy, buttery mouthful of heaven I’m used to. For the price of the salad, the burrata should have been fresher, especially if it’s the selling point of the dish. I would not mind they’d had switched it with a mozzarella as long as it were fresh.
For drinks, definitely try the freshly squished lemon juice. They serve it raw, with a jug of water to dilute and sugar to taste. Well worth stopping even for that!
We had no meat, but we saw steak and tartare being served to other tables and they looked really good (also good sizes).
Had no desserts.
Maybe we were just unlucky and, for the location, expectations were maybe a bit too high. Could do better.
A bit pricey considered that it’s a hut on the beach, but it’s high season in Provence, not sure how it works with prices...
Read moreAWFUL! Avoid this place at all costs! We arrived this evening at around 7pm there were 7 of us in the party. The place was empty and soulless. No joy, ambience or atmosphere whatsoever. A waitress walked past us in total 5 or 6 times and completely ignored us. Then a waiter did exactly the same. No welcome. No menus. No questions, completely ignored. We were totally annoyed when another party of 5 people were shown to a table, given menus, a bowl of water for their dog and their order taken. We promptly got up and left and spent €250 in l'ocean, a restaurant further along the road in the harbour where we were given professional service and exquisite food in a lovely setting. Do the right thing and spend your money where people will look after you. Poor show MyPitchu. Poor...
