L'Olivier — Restaurant in La Rochelle

My wife found L'Olivier on Google maps, looking for a style of food we don't have close to our home in England.

The couscous (I had mergeuz, my wife brochette) was lovely and took us right back to a holiday in Tunisia 30+ years ago.

This is our first time in the west of France and the couple who own this place are a great example of the friendly people we've found here. The host seemed worried that we wouldn't understand the menu and even asked a table of other customers if anyone spoke English. One did and very kindly helped, but I'm sure he would have managed with a bit hand-waving. With a positive attitude on both sides, we don't even need Google Translate.

When we're next in the region, possibly next summer, we'll certainly...

Nous sommes satisfaits de notre arrêt à l'Olivier, où nous avons mangé un délicieux couscous copieux( merguez pour mon mari, méchoui pour moi).Le patron nous a très gentiment reçus, veille à ce que nous ne manquons de rien. Si vous êtes un véritable amateur de couscous Foncez ici...Vrai Couscous berbère, très bien assaisonné et tout est préparé avec des produits frais. La viande est excellente, ne vous en privez pas Le patron est très accueillant et parle volontier du pays.
