RACINES — Restaurant in Laval

I was visiting Laval on business, and came across RACINES close to where I was staying. The menu looked fantastic, and well priced - I thought I would struggle to get a table for one arriving without a booking.

I arrived however, greeted by a very friendly waiter who was very patient with my lack of French language skills- and seated me right away.

The atmosphere was very relaxed, and the food was beyond delicious. I'll be sure to return if I'm ever...

Excellent value 3-course meal (39 EUR). Michelin listing well-deserved as all dishes were well-executed and tasty. Friendly chef who moved back to his hometown after stints abroad that included the UK, San Francisco and Switzerland - hence the name racines (=roots). The restaurant was a bit short-staffed however, only 2 waiters for 30+ diners is on the light side… could do with one more...

I was expecting a good meal but it ended up being an excellent one. Everything was really, really good - we enjoyed everything. Special mention to the monkfish which was delicious. Also very good value! The chef and staff were very friendly and attentive as well. Highly...
