A daily feast for three weeks in France… Frankly by the third week, the fine dining playbook was becoming stale, with beautiful plates satisfying the eyes more than the stomach a little too often. But then Les Belles Perdrix happened, and I was once again reminded of why we indulge at all in fine dining. That we come, to have our senses pleased, our imagination tickled. Beauty in form needs to be equally matched by substance.

Bacon strips lining up across a bed of mushrooms on a wafer disc. Like plowed fields on a farm. Beneath that, Guinea fowl stew a perfect harmony of umami.

From the flower pot we pluck the fruit of the earth; two mini tarts of lemon and fresh herbs combining a sharp acidity that cleanses the palate and awakens the senses. Declaring in no uncertainty — the afternoon must go on.

Sautéed squid lounging around a seabed. Sea bream for the sea rocks and cured salmon rolled up like corals under the sea. Flaky textures, juicy textures with a chewy bite. Squid and bream skate across the surface of the broth. It’s a shellfish broth, intense but delicate, a work of finesse.

For 50€ this is 3 courses on paper, but there’s still the amuse-bouche and petit fours which altogether make for a very gratifying meal. Clearly Chefs David Charrier and Adrien Salavert care about substance as much as presentation. This is quality served up at...

For stunning views and impeccably-kept accommodations, book into Château Troplong Mondot. The four-star estate offers a dreamy cottage house, nestled in the middle of the vineyard – with rows of grapevines at every view. Quaintly furnished with chintz fabrics, tile floors, and an open fireplace, the cottage is a welcoming retreat. The two-bedrooms are spacious and each includes bathrooms equipped with a shower and an old-fashioned claw-footed tub.||||In addition to the cottage, there are three beautifully designed apartments. One is two-bedroom, while the others are one-bedroom. All have gourmet kitchens, gorgeously-outfitted bathrooms and comfortably furnished bedrooms. Additionally, the larger two-bedroom apartment offers a dining area and open fireplace.||||Breakfast was a true highlight! We enjoyed mouth-watering pastries along with housemade preserves and jellies. Yogurt – made on site daily – along with fresh fruit and a thick, decadently rich apple compote is offered as well. But, the best breakfast is the astounding sunrise most mornings at the Château. To stand on top of Mondot, looking out over the village of Saint-Émilion, while sunrise colors play out over endless miles of vineyards, is a feast we'll...

Our meal at Les Belles Perdrix was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm, attentive service that set the tone for a truly memorable evening. The setting is lovely — perched among the vineyards, with a serene and elegant atmosphere that perfectly complements the refined cuisine. The food was exquisite, showcasing creativity, precision, and a genuine respect for local ingredients. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and full of flavor, with an outstanding balance between sophistication and heartiness. The wine list, as expected in this part of France, was impressive and very well curated — the sommelier offered thoughtful recommendations that paired perfectly with our meal. Service throughout was professional yet friendly, making us feel genuinely welcome and well cared for. There’s a lovely sense of calm and quiet luxury to the whole experience, and you can tell the team takes great pride in what they do. Les Belles Perdrix is the kind of place that reminds you why dining out can be such a joy. We left feeling truly satisfied and already looking forward to returning. Highly recommended for those in the region seeking an exceptional meal in a stunning setting.

We booked lunch and later on the winery tour through email. The correspondence was seamless. Prompt response and very cordial personnel handling this. The place was outstanding. The atmosphere was so dreamy while food was excellent. It was more a casual elegant type of setting because you can see the vineyard outside and the restaurant opens up to the outside. What I like most about this place is when you order coffee they move you to outside terrace with sycamore (I think) trees and you sit under them while being served the most creative petit four. The view of the vineyard was expansive with St Emillion as backdrop. Afterwards we took the winery tour. The facility was only renovated to the highest standard 2 years ago. So modern and impressive. They showed us the whole property. Everything was perfect. Thank you!
