Our daughter lives in Sainte Foy-la-Grande and we wanted a place to stay when we visited her. We'd picked out this hotel online and checked with her about local wisdom. This came out as the best place. ||||They have ten rooms on two floors above the restaurant. We were on the second floor. There are no lifts. However, I think the first floor rooms might be noisy, being the floor above the restaurant, on a main street in the town opposite a kebab takeaway and the rooms on the floor above have laminate flooring. ||||If I was picky, I would say that having a cycle in the entrance hall along with the tables that are stored when not in use on the street-side makes this a bit quirky and some of the decoration is a bit tired. However, they are big rooms, nicely furnished and with comfortable beds. We slept well. The purpose of these hotels is to provide a place to sleep. Consequently, we spent most of the time out of the room. ||||Breakfast is available in the restaurant at 7 Euros but we found a Boulangerie on the same street that opens each day at 6:30 where we could get coffee and a croissant for 2.80. ||||There are direct rail links from Sainte Foy-La-Grande railway station (a five minute walk away from the hotel) to Bordeaux, St. Emilion, Bergerac and The Dordogne at reasonable prices.||||As long as our daughter remains here, we will continue to stay at the...

Read moreEven though this restaurant looks from the outside more like a bar, it has nice sidewalk terrace, where taking one's lunch is to be recommended. Guests are welcomed with a free drink, offered by the owner. The chef de cuisine worked formerly at a Michelin-star restaurant, and this fact really can be tasted! We had a 3-course lunch (menu du jour) with a nice starter, an excellent "sauté de veau" garnished with garden-fresh vegetables and a refreshing dessert. We also ordered a 1/2 l wine en "carafe" which also was good. Lunch was only 12.50 €, per person,the wine about 7 €. Composing your menu à la carate is slightly more expensive. Quintessence: best quality/price ratio of any restaurant in Sainte Foy. Practically all tables taken when we were there. However: dinner prices are more in relation to the quality offered: So have a look during lunchtime! Next restaurant to be "tested" is "Le huit"...
