Aux Bons Sauvages — Restaurant in Lyon

As much as I hate leaving negative reviews I feel that this resturant was one of the most disappointing meals I've had in my life. I wasn't expecting fine dining of course, its a pub with live concerts so I was expecting hearty French home-made style food. Also it was recommended to us by a foodie and we checked their instagram photos prior to going which was a little misleading as it added a certain level of expectation. The food unfortunatly was nothing like the instagram photos. The falafel was very very dry. The taste was also very fishy. They were not served warm and the sauce that was served in the same plate was cold. I love falafels but I couldnt not even finish this dish (despite being very hungry). The meat dish, well, the meat itself was good quality but it was served with ketchup and very soggy fries. The Cola (which is local to the region and recommended by the barman) was fantastic. The atmosphere I can imagine this place being a favourite by the locals as there are live bands and the staff seemed hospitable but the dining service itself is rather non existent. I dont know if this is the norm for this place but I had to go to order at the bar, which is fine, if only they advised me of that before leaving us waiting on the table. A very nice place to eat and discover. We loved the food, it was fresh and we could feel the love they put in making it. The place is also beautiful with tasteful additions. The owners are also fantastic, we came with a stroller and they made sure to give us a table with enough space for us and our baby, they also gave us a high chair to help with the baby. They also did their best to accommodate us in English. We will be coming back when we are back...

Even without such a delicious and delicately prepared food, coming to Aux Bons Savage would be a rewarding experience because of such warm and friendly welcome from the hosts.
