La Table d’Ambre — Restaurant in Lyon

Sadly had a really BAD and unpleasant experience :/

In short - PAYED 150€ without eating a thing… BE AWARE AND DON’T LEAVE YOUR CREDIR THERE.

Innocently and really unfortunately we had mixed up the day of the reservation (though it was the next day, talking about the middle of the week of course - not the weekend) and a person from the restaurant called us 15 minutes after our time and presented that he is going to take from us an amount of 150€ (!!!) because he said that it is what the chef wish.. (?)

Even though there was plenty of room in that day (so we haven’t taken a place of another person) and I asked him if he can please change the date because in my calendar it was written that our reservation is for tomorrow - his exact answer was that the chef wants to take our money. My next step was to propose that we will come later or tomorrow as we wanted - but the person wasn’t nice and SLAMED (!!!) the phone without hearing or trying to understand what happened. I had to call him again and to try and understand why we can’t find a suitable solution for both sides.

Also, I assume that the reason for the confusion was that the order was made a bit before midnight and not after.. though it was already another day - but it turned out not to be.

I do understand that there was a mix up and part of it is our fault - but this is the FIRST TIME something like that happened to me. Even Michelin star restaurants (1-2 stars) had more patience and tried to help when there was an unpleasant and unexpected situation..

Visted on a city break in Lyon and glad that we did. We did not reserve a table and hoped that we may get a table on walk-in. I am very glad that we did. It was one of the best dinners we have eaten. The food is absolutely outstanding. All courses were divine, but in particular, for our main courses, we ate the best beef and sea-bass dishes my wife and I have ever had. Service was polite, attentive, and informative (also conducted in English, their non-native language). The young waitress who served us our desserts was very sweet and did an excellent job 👏 Price wise, it was very reasonable for the standard of food and service (approximately 180 Euros for 2 x 4 course dinners, a bottle of wine, 2x beers, and bottled water). Will definitely visit again...

De nouveau un restaurant qui n'est pas à la hauteur de mes attentes. À l'entrée de l'établissement, nous sommes accueilli par un signe de la main de la serveuse afin de prendre une table de notre choix. Arrive la commande des boissons, je demande de l'eau minérale, elle me propose un pichet ou une bouteille... Je pense que vous devriez savoir que l'eau minérale est seulement en bouteille quand on en propose à la carte... La commande du menu se passe bien, nous choisissons celui à 55€ avec la suggestion du moment. Je demande un verre de vin blanc pour l'accompagnement du poisson en plat, il m'est malheureusement servi dès les amuses bouches, ce qui laissera le temps de réchauffer le verre. L'entrée de canard est une bonne découverte le tartare est bien préparé l'association avec la mangue est agréable mais je retrouve malheureusement la même mousse au poivre de Timut que celle proposée dans les amuses bouches... C'est un peu dommage. Le plat principal se compose d'une tranche de lotte avec une sauce à l'ail noir, une purée et une poêlé de trompette de la mort. Encore une déception... Je pense que l'assiette est restée trop longtemps sous le chauffe plat, mon poisson est trop cuit par endroit, la sauce accroche à l'assiette et une partie des champignons a séché. Aussi, je tombe malheureusement sur trop de grain de sable dans les trompettes de la mort, cela dégrade encore l'expérience. Arrive le dessert, la châtaigne. Je suis déçu par ce dessert trop simple à mon goût. Le financier est bon mais ni la glace ni les mousses sortent vraiment du lot, les pointes de crème de marron c'est sympa mais c'est toujours aussi simple. J'ai de nouveau du coulis de mangue dans cette assiette et je ne trouve pas que l'association fruits exotiques et châtaignes fonctionne, c'est juste plus coloré. Je note que les chocolats après le dessert sont quand même agréables. Je peux sembler trop exigeant pour cet établissement mais quand on propose un menu à 55€+10€ (pour la suggestion) et qu'on se présente comme un restaurant gastronomique c'est le minimum.
