I visited this restaurant with my wife, and until now, it has been difficult for us to comprehend what happened there and how it's possible that Michelin even put this place in their guide, let alone give them 2 stars. Just for this, you can see how decadent the Michelin guide is nowadays.
Nothing in this place resembles any of the other Michelin restaurants we've been to around the world.
Let's start with the decor: the tables were old, tacky, and damaged. They seated us at a table right in front of the kitchen door, which was very noisy and rushed with all the waiters running right in front of us.
They were piling dirty dishes and glasses right in front of us - I mean, really close to us. We could see the remnants of other people's food and even smell it.
The service was horrible; they hire students and train them to act like robots. Only the sommelier was present there and knew what he was doing, serving us good wines.
Now, the food: it was absolutely mediocre, bland, outdated, and tasteless. They tried to make a scene by serving cheap Saint Peter's fish inside beeswax. Yes, beeswax! This only counted for the looks and didn't add anything to the fish; it didn't improve the taste or the texture, nothing. It was just a little scene with a big piece of beeswax and the fish floating inside.
After that, a very small piece of badly made dry-aged beef that tasted like salami was served. I love dry-aged beef and have been to Japan many times to eat Wagyu, so I know what bad dry-aged beef is, and this was one of the worst.
The desserts were so bland that I can't even remember what was served, and after this frustrating dinner, the only thing we wanted was to get out of this miserable place.
For all of this, we paid over 400 Euros for two people.
The cherry on top, and something we deeply regret, was not checking the reviews here and in many other places to see this is a place to avoid completely. It's a real trap for tourists, locals, and whoever enters there. Also, how deeply unbalanced is the hostess/wife/owner's replies to all the bad reviews here? Please read all the bad reviews here.
EDIT*: As expected, the usual nonsense gaslighting reply from the lady owner who refuses to acknowledge any criticism of her business and attacks personally and talks of absolutely unrelated things in her replies to anyone who dared to report how bad their experience in this restaurant was. It must be an acute case of entitlement...
Read morePleasant and minimalistic vibes that you expect upon entering a Michelin starred restaurant. While the tables were near each other, we didn't have to yell to speak to each other and didn't really hear other conversations. Upon seating we were given a rose-lemon liquid to wash our hands. I got the Lychee tea was good amount of sweetness and had lychee flavor but I was expecting it to be homemade and it was instead from a bottle. My husband had a cup or white and a cup of red which were both light and nice.
Rice mousse - smooth like yogurt texture, ricey, hint of onion Sardine yogurt tarragon - nice sardine taste with light fried thin puff Quail egg - nice warm egg had hints of fish taste Crab tartine with uni - fresh, sweet, bergamot foam but not memorable as we have kani at home; bread was airy, good crust, but the grain on it distracted from the bread taste Gnocchi smelled like brown butter but was not overpowering. It was very soft mashed with small slice of cheese on top. Vegetable mushroom medley had nice salt and acidity Scallop with egg white and black truffle was ok; scallop could've been cooked better, didn't care too much about the overall flavors and it had very soft on soft texture so we were hoping for some crunch with it Char cooked in beeswax - super interesting method of cooking and the fish was really soft. lemon butter was pretty but the taste was whatever; artichoke had a almost soy sauce glaze was tasty but we didn't think it paired well with fish Australian wagyu was tasty but fatty. Jus had gamey taste. Strange to have a single lettuce on plate. Celeriac was tasty, cooked perfectly; green sauce was celeriac had slight grassy taste Mango yogurt had a cheese like smell but was fine; vanilla peach had a stink like canned peaches Chestnut cake was great, loved the chestnut paste didn't care about the crust Clementine Pannacotta disappointing like a la croix of clementine Pannacotta. Lemon Sorbet way too tart with the lemon rind and kumquat; the piece of date didn't save it Petit four each had their unique flavors; the bonbon had liqueur inside but cracked instantly in mouth very memorable. Chantilly cake had nice egg tasting crust with rum raisins. Overall we were very full and it was an experience but none of the dishes...
Read moreA very nice dining experience with several dishes that are creative & really shows the chef’s talents. The restaurant is slightly out of the town centre & a nice 30 min stroll through residential areas. We were warmly greeted & shown to our table which had an excellent overview of the restaurant (approx 24 customers with 8 staff) Staff were professional & friendly - all spoke excellent English. There are 2 options to the degustation menu & one can opt to wine pair or the sommelier makes recommendations. The food was exquisite - from the amuse bouche to the little snacks & the actual degustation meal itself. Memorable dishes were the beef (surprisingly from Australia) & fish cooked in beeswax at your table. Simply outstanding. Unfortunately a slight hiccup when we paid the bill - we were overcharged for water & wine. The amount is insignificant but with the small number of diners & high ratio of staff, such mistakes/errors should not happen. The bill was corrected with an apology (& excuses which as customers we did not need to know) & we were asked to recheck the bill again. As the amount was insignificant (less than Euro 15) - the restaurant should have been gracious & “comped” the extra bottle of water charged & wine overcharge. It would have left us in a much better frame of mind. This downgraded the experience from 5 to 4 stars. A seemingly minor point but it did detract from the...
