In one word: horrible. The fully story: mind that La Crique is made up of two separate restaurant operations: (1) a pizzeria where you enter from the street, and (2) a seafood terrace upstairs, overlooking the bay. In that second section they won’t serve you most of the pizzeria dishes, and the whole fish dishes being featured as the core part of the menu are not just significantly overpriced (c. 100-150 Euro for a fish for two) but also, at least in our case, extremely poor quality. Several reviewers have written about the “average“ or “mediocre“ quality of the food in La Crique, we found it to be downright unacceptable — the „Grilled St Pierre“ came as a ripped off fish head that looked like it had been in the garbage before next to a kind of white fish mash (which might have been all kinds of things but certainly not the filleted meat from a grilled fresh fish), along with 5 or 6 small potatoes and a few loveless shreds of vegetables. We would have been disappointed (to say the least) for any restaurant to bring out such unappetisingly looking and frankly inedible food. This happening in a restaurant of this price class left us simply incredulous. The dish went back straight away, and we refused the staff’s offer to “try again“. So bizarr was this whole experience, it even made us wonder whether the staff had chosen us as the victims for a strange sort of prank (perhaps with bets being made in the kitchen if we would actually eat that junk we were being served…?) — We left the “seafood terrace“ to grab a pizza in the establishment‘s lower floor section, simply because we were hungry, and meanwhile it had got too late to drive somewhere else. The pizzas there would in fact deserve a 4 star rating, had it not been for the disastrous experience with the fish before. Our pizzeria server then refused to bill us (obviously in the knowledge of what had happened in their seafood section upstairs…) and insisted “they did not want to lose us as customers“ — and so we finally left whatever cash we had on us on the table, a “tip“ approximating the value of what we consumed. Conclusion: If you fancy a decent pizza by the beach try the downstairs pizzeria, but don’t be lured by the prospect of the view from the rooftop part (=the pricy seafood terrace), avoid this at all cost, it‘s a...
Read moreThe two stars are entirely for the food, which was excellent, but service was terrible. We had a reservation for outside, made the day before, but when we got there they acted like we were a last minute annoyance, simply pulling a two-top off of a larger table out into the middle of the resteraunt (and it was not outside). We made our reservation for when the resteraunt opened, so most tables were available, so we asked if we could sit by the window at least, but were told no, it was reserved for someone else. However by the time we left, there was still no one sitting there...
We don't speak French very well, but we tried, but the wait staff were very rude and short with us and didnt help explain anything on the menu. When we were taking some time to translate the menu, they were pushy and wanting us to order quickly, which was frustrating because who wants to order an expensive meal when you dont know what the menu says?
We were very excited to eat here, as it was our 5 year wedding anniversary and we had heard good things about the place, but as soon as we got there the staff made us feel very unwelcome.
We wish we had gone somewhere else to celebrate 5 years of being married. Maybe you get better service if...
Read more“Mama Mia, let me go” The words from Bohemian Rhapsody completely apply to this wonderful place. The view, the food, the ambience, the service… all with a big “THE” because they are exceptional. Book in advance a table on the roof top terrace and go there without thinking twice. Truffle pizza, small squids as appetizers and fish of the day as main dishes will make your day! Pair it with exquisite wine from Bandol or a bottle of Deutz champagne and you are in heaven. At some point of time I had a very true and very real feeling that somebody put me inside of a painting of unique beauty and I eat there:) Again, this is a classic and unique experience of dining at Cote de Azure! Sorry, no photos, food was disappearing faster that I could take a decent photo. Ok, May be...
