Don't be put off by its scruffy exterior . . .

Just opposite the sturdy parish church - there's a bit of parking outside the church, and a bigger carpark just round the back - this doesn't look like much from outside. In fact you might even walk or drive past it, as its main sign says not "Chez Flo" but "Hotel-Bar du Centre".

But that's it.

And you might find it hard to get in on a weekend in the tourist season. There must be a reason for it always being packed! If you come to the Sunday market - summer months only - the easiest thing is to pop in there and then and book for that evening as it's just by the market square.

The food is varied, mainly regional of course, but that's what you come for. But although it's regional ingredients, it is not regional or rustic in its presentation, which is excellent, mouth-watering, beautiful.

The look of the food matches the taste - whenever we go, we enjoy everything.

But the desserts in particular - sometimes an afterthought in some French restaurants - are to die for. I say no more.

Chaque année nous ponctuons notre passage par la table de chez flo. À chaque fois nous repartons ravis du repas et du service. Hier soir, nous avons eu droit à un service catastrophique. Table réservée le matin et non disponible car donnée à d'autres clients. Installation sur la terrasse puis on nous a demandé de bouger, car erreur faîtes sur une table sur le nombre des convives. Ensuite commande prise à la légère. Erreur dans le service de l'apéritif, pas les bonnes bières. 3 ème bémol et pas des moindre, les plats sont arrivés ( après plus 1/2 d'attente en suivant l'entrée) tout juste tiède. Je fais remarquer au serveur, biensur j'avais goûté au plat, mais j'étais tellement déçue hier soir que j'ai fait renvoyé en cuisine. Après 10 mn d'attente, on me ramène mon assiette, avec le plat chauffé, et la salade dessus cuite... tout le monde vient s'excuser en mettant en avant "qu'ils se sont faits surprendre" ... et nous propose un disgestif comme pansement... nous avions commandé 4 cafés, et donc nous prenons 2 digestifs "offerts" sur les 4. Car je ne bois pas de digestif et mon amie non plus. Bref... total facture 220 € pour 4 avec les 4 cafés payants. Et là je dis bravo ça c'est être commerçant et professionnel. Très très très déçue par le service et l'encadrement. Je ne parle pas des mets qui étaient succulents. Je pense que je n'y mettrai plus les pieds, car je ne roule pas sur l'or, et cette sortie restaurant me tenait beaucoup à cœur. Je n'ai pas les moyens d'être déçue. Je parlais de chez flo comme d'une adresse en or. Mais là je ne pourrais plus en...

Family (2 adults + girls 15 & 16) holiday last week in June, we ate twice at lunchtime on a packed terrasse.

We all chose the very popular formule, excellent value, delicious and beautifully presented. Wine at 2 euros a glass with this menu was very good and the warm bread yum!
