This restaurant is really special; worth travelling out of your way for. Family run by enthusiastic, efficient and fun staff with a real sense of humour, the whole enterprise is validated by its food, which is spectacularly good. I had 'escargots de Bourgogne en coquille au beurre d'ail' to start... and 'Pave de rumsteak charolais, bearnaise' as a main. This is definitely the best restaurant in Briare. The staff are welcoming and all speak English. Last Saturday I had had a very trying journey to Briare on my boat; I phoned them to reserve a table for myself, if possible, and Florence la patronne said she could squeeze me in somewhere, for which I was very grateful. The meal was all one could wish, pate de foie gras, an entrecote steak, cheese and a poached pear. The chef, Jean-Paul, always produces excellent food. The pichet of Brouilly I drank was delicious!
