Bonaventure — Restaurant in Montpellier

Take the other reviews for restaurants in this area seriously. Although I read some reviews, we didn't have enough time to explore other options and decided to take the risk, which turned out to be unfortunate.

The restaurant's location offers a lovely view, which I really enjoyed. The seating area was also comfortable and cosy. Our waitress was very nice, though she had difficulty speaking English. It was disappointing that they only had the menu in French and didn't provide translations for other languages. Considering that not everyone speaks French (only 3.6 percent of the world population), it would have been helpful to have translations available. Nevertheless, the waitress did her best to explain the menu using simple words.

We opted for the fish dishes since the restaurant was by the sea, even though they were quite overpriced. The ambience made us want to sit there and enjoy the surroundings.

However, our food arrived surprisingly quickly, in less than 5 minutes, which made us question if it was already cooked or it is fresh. Unfortunately, the dishes were served not very warm and lacked any distinct taste. For the price of €40 for food and €7 for a 330ml beer, we expected at least average quality food, especially given the restaurant's location by the sea.

To be honest, I am hesitant to try any other food options in this area, and I can only suggest having a drink if you want to enjoy the view and atmosphere.

P.S. The cocktails were priced at approximately €15, but I cannot comment on their quality as we didn't try them after the disappointing...

Bonjour ! Nous sommes venue mes amies et moi pour la première fois c’était charmant et chic de vue , un accueil correct. Les entrées étaient bonnes , mais prix exorbitants…

Une serveuse qui a pris notre commande de cocktails nous propose gentiment de l’eau « eau plate ou eau gazeuse ? » je site , cela nous a inspiré normal d’avoir de l’eau on avait soif hein, et après avoir pris 60€ de cocktail.. on a pris Eau plate .. Un serveur vient directement nous servir la fameuse eau plate dans nos verres, mais mes amies et moi en voyant la jolie bouteille on regarde sur la carte avec le nom de cette bouteille en voyant 8€ la bouteille d’eau proposée , je trouve ça inadmissible qu’on nous propose que du PAYANT premièrement sachant le prix de notre commande, que la carafe d’eau n’a pas été ramené par instinct de serveuse ou proposé , qu’on nous informe pas son prix , c’est le personnel qui propose et nous sommes clientes je le rappelle.. Et en plus qu’on nous la serve directement dans chacun de nos verres (donc trop tard pour souhaiter une carafe )..

Ce n’est que de l’eau à 8€ mais nous n’avons pas aimé le geste qui nous paraissait fait exprès.

On voulait seulement se retrouver entre amies et boire des cocktails et de l’eau gratuite vu la saison et la chaleur ,et puis quand on voit les prix c’était normal une carafe d’eau proposée …

Même après avoir tenté d’expliquer notre incompréhension au personnel une dame très très hautaine n’a aucunement pris en compte nos sentiments et le budget de sa clientèle , aucune excuse , aucun sourire, aucune empathie et en plus se fiche de nous en nous proposant la carafe d’eau au moment où on règle … Alors oui le prix était sur la carte j’entends, mais c’est si on souhaitait avoir de l’eau minérale payante on l’aurait commandé là ça été une proposition de la serveuse , c’est comme du pain en général c’est des choses qui restent encore à volonté et gratuite de nos jours chère madame. Le professionnalisme a été dépassé on a réglé car nous sommes totalement compréhensives et civilisés mais dans l’autre sens aucun geste chaleureux c’était choquant !

Première et dernière fois qu’on vient ici. Quel dommage de perdre des clients aussi bêtement.

Lieu jolie quand même , dommage aucune musique pour le prix...

Been there 2 days in a row on first line sunbeds. Location and view is what’s best about this place. Although slightly overpriced the food is rather good and well served. Service is slow but it’s probably to match the vibe of the whole thing which is “bobo chic”. There’s a LOT of staff although some of them don’t seem to care much and prefer to chat around and crack jokes. Kudos to Gautier and Lisa who were super active for our well-being. If you’re tight on money don’t go there or you’ll leave frustrated, otherwise if you’re cool and not too demanding, you should have a good time within a great venue. Big boss could smile a bit more.
