Hotel Montespan Talleyrand — Restaurant in Moulins

I do not often write reviews, but feel compelled to after reading the review below.||I stayed at this hotel for one night as a stopover on the way to the South of France with my wife and children. From the moment we arrived, I only have positive comments.||We were greeted by a very friendly lady on reception who showed us to our lovely spacious room. We spent the day relaxing by the pool which the kids particularly loved after the long drive.||Before dinner we had drinks in the garden. The same lady greeted us and sat us for dinner giving us a choice of inside or out.|The four course set meal was enjoyable, and at a reasonable price. ||Again at breakfast we were given a choice of eating in the restaurant or garden. There was a great choice for everyone from pastries to fruit, yoghurts, cheese, meats etc. etc.||There was nothing I could really pick fault with and I think the staff deserve particular credit for being so friendly and helpful in today’s challenging circumstances. ||We are staying again in one week on our way home which I’m looking forward to as the perfect way to end...

Very nice hotel, and the luxury room we booked was very comfortable.|The staff were very friendly, but (in my opinion) mislead us!|We invested in a luxury room and were looking forward to our stay in the hotel inlcuding the advertised excellent breakfast and an enjoyable evening meal. When we arrived, however, we were told we couldn't book a table in the restaurant that evening. Very, very disappointing! Why hadn't the hotel asked us if we wanted a table in the restaurant when we booked. We were told rain was forecast for the evening, which meant that the outside part of the restaurant would not open that evening. It did not rain that evening, and it was obvious that with only two front-of-house staff in the restaurant, the real reason bookings were unavailable was because it was understaffed. The breakfast didn't live up to expectations either...
