Restaurant Yam — Restaurant in Mulhouse

I’ve heard so many good things about this restaurant that I finally decided to go there with some friends. We were one of the first in the restaurant (at 19:00) so we could place our order relatively early. It got crowded quite quickly after 20:00. The first course came after around 30 mins from when we ordered but the main course took forever. It arrived only at 21:00! Just unacceptable. My friends ordered the surprise menu (MENU DÉCOUVERTE) and apparently, because they didn’t have enough meat for 3 people, they quickly changed the menu and gave them fish. Since it was a ‘surprise’ dinner, they could get away with it. But cooking fish doesn’t take 1,5 hours! And on top it was blend and the sauce tasted so so, absolutely not worth €55 they had to pay! And while we still were eating the main course, they brought the desserts! And pretended it was not for us and took it back. By the time we got to the dessert the ice cream have melted and it just tasted very blend. This is a typical ‘just across the border’ restaurant, thinking they can get away with high prices, and it will attract people but the service, waiting time and taste doesn’t match up to the price. Our family really enjoyed the food here (enjoyed it more than in L’Orchidee in Altkirch). Unfortunately, the service towards the end was very slow. Our dessert came after 30 minutes! It came at the same time as the next table’s who ordered way after us. No apology or explanation given.

Gave this restaurant another chance - our third coming here already, but nothing has changed. Kitchen is still very slow. It took 45 minutes from the time they cleared our starter plates to the time they served the main course. The annoying thing was that the waiter explained that the kitchen had to make it “Michelin” quality. I just had to laugh. First of all, they don’t even have a Michelin star - it’s their sister restaurant in Altkirch that has. Secondly, I’ve eaten in many Michelin starred restaurants, including with 3 stars, and the service was way more efficient than this pretentious place. Oh, and the food has deteriorated since the last time we ate here....

Avis extrêmement mitigé. Nous sommes arrivés, à 2, à 19h35. A 20h, personne n'est encore venu prendre nos commandes. Du personnel passe sans cesse devant nous mais personne ne nous regarde. Un sert, l'autre allume les lampes, le 3e met les couverts.... on ne comprend pas trop ce ballet. Ça semble très mal organisé. Seul un serveur semble être habilité à prendre les commandes. On interpelle un serveur pour lui dire qu'on aimerai passer commande. Ça marche, yes. A la carte, 4 plats de résistances. Le maigre, ya plus, c'est du cabillaud à la place. OK, on prend quand même. Je commande un vin local, pinot noir 2021 vieillis en barique, bio. 5 min après, on me dit qu'il n'y a plus mais on propose à la place , au même prix un 2023 pas bio. Ben... non. Je reprend la carte des vins et choisi un autre pinot noir 2021. Entre temps j'ai mon entrée. Enfin la serveuse me ramène le pinot... de 2023. Pfff. Bon, marre...... je prends quand même, mon plat est là et j'ai envie de manger chaud. Déçu du vin, trop jeune. Je paye pour un 2021 et j'ai un 2023. J'ai pris en entrée un tigre qui pleure. Viande de bœuf un peu dure. Assaisonnement qui manque peps à mon goût. Salade à peine assaisonnée. Je m'attendais vraiment à plus de saveurs. Mon mari a pris le thon cru, bon bien que la.sauce un peu trop doucatre! En plat j'ai pris le cochon. Fade, j'avais l'impression de manger du veau. Bon mais déçue. Mon mari a pris le cabillaud. Bon assaisonnement à la citronnelle. Bonne cuisson du poisson. En dessert on a pris le truc chocolat cacao haricot. Vraiment délicieux. Riche en goût avec des textures différentes. Top! En résumé : -175€ pour 2 aperos, 2 entrées, 2 plats, 1 dessert, 1 décevante bouteille de vin plats bons mais je m'attendait à plus de saveur desserts chocolat très bon service décevant vins : pfffffff Désolée de ce constat. Je me faisais une joie de cette soirée car j'ai bcp.entendu parler de ce resto..... et je suis pas du genre à critiquer. Mais là, ...
