I am struggling to reconcile our experience with other reviews here. Stopped for a simple lunch. We were welcomed ok, but not allowed to sit where we wanted as they had no tables for two. No one else arrived after us and there were plenty of free tables. Interior is pleasant and cozy with stone walls and half-timbered ceiling.
Waiter was fast and pleasant. He made an effort to use English at times (although my French is ok to order etc). Sadly when he poured my small glass of house red he drained the dregs of one bottle including all sediment and then topped off with a completely different red. €4.
The bruschettas are actually just that. Obvious you say, but the menu unhelpfully shows a photo of a (much larger) pizza. My wife had a vegetarian one. It consisted of a spread tomato sauce with a little unnamed grated cheese, plus some green beans and some mushrooms etc. It showed little cooking skill or flair (e.g. mushrooms just sprinkled raw), but was tasty as they had used a lot of dried herbs. Not exciting, but to be fair, for less than €10, ok I suppose. It was tea room snack rather than restaurant food.
I had the dish of the day which was steak frites with shallot sauce. Steak was cooked to various amounts in different parts (poorly cut of different thicknesses). Was somewhere between tough and inedibly chewy throughout. Sauce was tasty. Accompanied by a smallish amount of chips and sprig of parsley. Followed by a soggy crepe with a spoonful of strawberry jam straight from the jar. Mine was €13.50.
At this price we shouldn’t expect much, but it’s possible to do better than this and there was a general lack of skill...
Read moreFrozen food unfriedly chef, they don't care on you at all. Worst food since 20 years. Bad food can happen a bad day, too. We got 2 magret , both medium although said one well done other medium. Tornedo .was super dry for a medium. Vegetables were either can or drozen -chef said then that frozen. On a logical complain that we do nkt spend 80 euros for getting frozen food with a can sauce on onions over a badly grilled suck the chef said: I do not care if you like or not as you do not come back again. The rest of the reataurant qere witnesses. Never i heared such things after 20 years living in france. .
A eviter. Just ot forget...
