La différAnce — Restaurant in Nice

I have know this place for years - an incredible secret nestled in a beautiful cove just outside of Monaco. I have always had great experiences with the food and service and of course, what a view! My girlfriend and I had our second date at La DifférAnce and so we decided to organize our wedding reception here on 23/09/2023. WOW, what a success! It is very difficult to maintain such a high level of quality and consistency with the food and service when serving a large party but they absolutely nailed it - DELICIOUS! All of our guests had a wonderful experience with the food and staff - who didn't miss a beat and even went above and beyond for us. What a great hidden gem that not even the locals know. Just turn off by the Monte Carlo Tennis Club and follow the parking lot to a dead end and you cannot miss it. Great view restaurant with good food and perfect ambiance for a romantic date. Worth a trip at any time, hardly is seecond to none. Three drawbacks, though, why they did not get the five stars they otherwise rightfully deserve. Only cash in this day and age, not even ATM cards accepted. Bad surprise, only to avoid any paper trail for tax reasons. Not contemporary! Since they are unfortunately quite pricey the lacking card acceptance is ever more unacceptable.

Also they are catering predominantly to fish lovers and leaving the meat eaters out of the loop. Not every person, who does not like fish is necessarily a vegetarian or vegan. There are carniverous people out there after all. Please don’t leave...

We have had lunch here 3 times with a group of friends and everyone we all get food poisoning. Locally it is well known that La difference has an unhygienic kitchen. Also there have been 5 muggings on the sentier of people coming out of La difference. They don’t accept cash so there is no recourse to prove we had lunch and to make a complaint with the health authorities.
